|
|
| My friend has constantly complained about people who had a baby shower for their second, third, etc., babies. Then he changed his mind and ended up having a baby shower for their second baby recently. We couldn't go because our whole day was previously booked, and it was the same time we had to leave to go to a show (my husband and I go out about four times a year). My friend has been grouchy with me ever since, but I reminded him that I said I couldn't go (but had a gift I'd bought before they announced the shower) and also that I never had a shower for my second child, and that he constantly berated anyone who had a shower past their first child. Should I have cancelled the plans I made with my husband months in advance or should I tell my friend to stop being so full of himself? |

| You already had plans and any good and decent friend should understand that. You should not have cancelled your plans! About the baby showers, that varies now. My sister had a big baby shower with her first daughter. When it got close to her second daughter arriving, the girls in the family went out to dinner and gave her small gifts and just celebrated the miracle that new babies are to my family. Her sister in law however, had 2 big baby showers. She had one with her daughter several years ago and one just a few months ago for her son. This was mainly because all the clothes she had saved couldn't be used for her son. A very close friend of mine has said she does not want a second baby shower because she saved all her son's stuff and is having another boy. We're trying to throw her a dinner much like we did for my sister, but scheduling this time of year is very hard to do and the baby is due Jan. 1! Technically family members are not supposed to give the shower. So, if there is a friend that is willing to do all the work and spend the money, let these ladies have multiple baby showers! |
