I am NOT saying christams is bad or should not be paid attention too.. It is suppose to be the birth of christ and all.. So yes, I find it very important..But I see on here and other places people SO worried that they will not be able to give there kids a christmas that they think they should get.. I see the 'we have very little money' or ' we are trying to pay the bills'. Maybe it was the way I was raised.. Christmas was important but SO was the rest of the year. My mother and dad at times during the year could do more for us then sometimes on christmas.. We were ok with that.. I never felt bad, no matter how old I was or how many things my friends got on christmas, when I might have only gotten one or two things on christmas, I knew I was not going to go with out during the rest of the year.. I want to say to some of these parents.. can we get back to the real reason for chirstmas and not how many gifts you want to give out..

i'm stronhly agreed with you....it's all not just about how many gift you give, but the most important is the love in it....not quantity but quality..

Well of course you can, but why should others starve their thoughtless, needy children of things they don't need or even want?

People do go a bit over board with presents and the like. I think that this year my bil andsil are going to struggle as they added a baby to the family and next year will be worse as they are expecting again. The last few years when they have had only one child they have gone so over board and the child has not appreciated any of it so I wonder if they will spend the $1000s of $ on all the children or wether they will be forced to cut back and the older one resent not getting as many presents.

I think you are right. Love of parents should be distributed equally all around the year, and it doesn't have to be shown in gifts in order to be proved! What's happening now, is the commercialization of all our social life. Day of the Mother, day of the father, day of the grandfather, day of the teacher, day of the dog, whatever.. it's all done for the sake of selling selling selling.. What's worse, is when this trend is imposed on religious events.Peace/salaam.
