I'll share mine with you as well....My Father, Mother, my 2 Brother's & Myself going to Midnight Mass (in Latin), seeing our father's side of the family there. Coming home then the family would sit-up around our Christmas tree (prob. when I was a young teenager) Enjoying some hot chocolate w/marshmellows in our cups. Having each other pick out one present for us to open before we head off to bed. Had a dog who opened his own gifts as well.Sitting in a circle in our 70's style livingroom listening to Elvis Christmas Album (on vinal). Opening our 1 Christmas Eve present (after midnight though). Then getting curlled up in bed dreaming of the day to come.

Every year since we were kids, on christmas eve, my 3 sisters and I get our "christmas jammies" (new pajamas) They usually kinda match but are different enough to fit all our different personalities. It's so silly cause we're all grown up now but we won't let my mom stop this tradition. When we get home from church we all get to open our christmas pj's and put them on and then go to bed (though now most of us go home because we're married and such) and wait for santa...haha its so fun. My dad loves the Elvis christmas album also... he hates christmas music but that's the only one he'll put on.

On Christmas Eve we go to my Grandpa's house. There are only 8 of us total and we eat appetizers and play card games. Then at about 10pm we start opening presents. We go around from oldest to youngest one at a time. When my parents and my brother and I get home at about 1am we sit around the Christmas tree in the dark (ok not the total dark, we have the tree lights on) and open our own immediate family presents. Then we go to bed about 4am and sleep in Christmas morning before heading to see the other side of the family.

It seems the experience of Christmas during our early childhood is always so special.I remember how I along with two younger sisters used to have great excitement in decorating our own Christmas Tree prior to Christmas Eve and our parents used to help us in giving it a special look. Both the parents also used to appreciate the way we used to get involved in decorations and both of them used to enjoy our unusual excitement ( for creating something we thought we did ourselves.....reasons , ofcourse, they knew , was not just have a special Christmas Tree , but, to get special unexpected Gifts that would follow later on ......you never know when Santa would come at midnight while we would be in deep sleep ..........once pleased to find such a wonderful Christmas Tree being decorated by good kids like us, Santa would leave somewhere behind or inside the branches of the Tree special Gifts for us....).We being good children , every year Santa used to give us such Special Gifts and we always used wonder how he could understand what each one of us liked most!!!We used to attend the Midnight Mass along with our elders of both the familes of our parents. We grew up in a small town and expectation of getting Gifts from all (including some close neghbours ) was quite high......and we really used to get lot of Gifts and hugs and kisses. We then used come back home together with the elders of and other members of the families of parents of our parents. We were very much used to it.My father used to ensure that all had to be together for Dinner which had to be little special.....it was always special in such a Great Occasion:)))We were advised to thank everybody after recieving a Gift from anyone.........The following morning we used to have a little more fun.We used to go out somewhere in a good spot for a family Picnic........most items used to be pre- cooked and few items like, boiled eggs, salad, making sandwich (we also used have the pleasure of helping Mom in doing the job in our own way).Starting from late Breakfast and a lunch ........we usually used to visit some neghbours and relatives......and always used to have a few bites of this or that.I can't imagine how we could eat so much during those days .....anything would do.....I do miss those days.I have a strong feeling that the children of today do miss all these, especially, those who are in Big Cities.
