|
|
I need some ideas for this Christmas. I am due to buy my two children (3y and 7 months), my mother and brother in law (who's names were drawn) and my in-laws Christmas. My children's are the most important. Problem is, I only have $200 to work with. Is this possible? PLUS my son's birthday is the day after Christmas..so out of that comes a cake and another gift. It's really tight this year..we are military and on a tight budget. My hubby is deployed right now. Any suggestions??Can someone suggest some good gifts for a 3 year old boy and 7 month old girl?

For the adults why not give a bottle of wine and chocolates? Or some other sort of food? Kepp them to a minimum...look on www.craftster.org for ideas on crafting chirstmas presents....it's not all Knitting or anything..it gives good ideas on making baskets up for people which cost very little but look amazing.

At that age you dont have to get them both a lot. Just get them each 2 special toys and that should be sufficiant. As for the "secret santa" you could always go to Walmart and buy the gift sets they sell there ($10-$20 no more.)

I would say $20 each for the other relatives and save the rest for your kids.My son is 3, and one thing he really wanted and asked for was action figures, transformers, movies. Also I got my son a phone from Target that educates them. It teaches up to 3 numbers that you program like a home phone, cell phone....it teaches them their address, and then all of the emergency phone numbers. As far as the 7 month old, one small gift is enough. They aren't going to remember this Christmas yet alone be old enough to understand what is going on.

I usually bake my family homemade cookies and candies plus I make an inexpensive ornament every year that represents my family. That way I can focus on the kids.

Why don't you get the 7 month old a special book and write a little letter to her on the inside of the cover. She is not going to have an idea what she got, but this way she will get something small (cheap) and meaningful and can look back on it later. A really nice book could cost $20, but you could go a lot cheaper! We got our toddler a little piano from target, it is shaped like a kitty and has a microphone. He played with it in the store that day and LOVED it. It cost $30 and he won't look at another toy for a while when we give it to him. Just find some cool toy, and don't overdo it.As for you family, do you have a limit? You could get your brother a movie or cd or itunes card or something that he would like - around $20. Your mom - get her a picture frame that is also a book that she an display (I got one for my mom that says Grandkids on it) and she put it on the end table in her living room and loves adding photo's to it. I got it at Khols for like $15. For the in-laws, you could do the same photo book/frame. Or something similar - another $15.That puts you at about $100 and leaves left over cash for cake and gift for birthday. You could be more generous if you choose, but I bet people will understand simple, meaningful gifts.Merry Christmas!

Your family should understand you are on a budget this year. Homemade gifts are nice, such as cookies and candy put in a cute tin. Shop at cheap stores such as walmart, target, dollar store, even dollar tree. Some inexpensive gift ideas are: popcorn tins, cookies, chocolates, men's tie, candles, hat, purse........if you shop at discount stores you can make your money go alot further! Walmart has tons of gift sets for under $10. Any married couples you are buying for, get them a gift that's for both of them. like picture frame and candle. Get your kids stocking stuffers at the $1 stores-they have nice candles and xmas cards too. Make your son's birthday cake...it's alot cheaper than buying a fancy one at the store. Just sit down and figure out how much money you can afford to spend on each person/couple and stick to it when getting a gift. Don't worry if they will like it. It's the thought that counts anyway. We are a military family too and know all about the budget thing............God bless your family!Merry Christmas!EDIT: Walgreens has great toys for kids of all ages that are prices 3 for 11.99! That way you can get alot of toys for really cheap and they are good toys.

I would say for your mother and in laws you should go to Michaels or some other craft store and buy a collage picture frame. My grandma and mom love theirs. Check the link below. They are around $10. You could get something else to go along with it. I would suggest spending around $25-$30 for you mom, brother in law, and inlaws. If you spend $30 on each of them then you will still have $80 for your children. I would go shopping for the realtives first then figure out what you can spend on the kids.I would say that for your 7 month old you don't need to get anything spectacular. Maybe a new toy that is like $15 and some new clothing item that she needs. The second link below looks pretty cool if your daughter does not have something similar already, and it has really good reviews. I would go to like Target or some other major store and see what kind of things similar to that they have. A plastic talking phone might be fun for her too, or some little people she is a little young to play little people but she would like to look at them and chew on them and your son probably would like to play with them too. The third link is a computer thing for a little bit older kids it looks like your son probably would like it. Today they have a lot of fun educational games for young children. Or if you wanted to get your son several things I would suggest some cars-buy the bright plastic kind I think they are Tonka so that they are baby safe. You could get Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders. Playdough would also be a lot of fun for him. I think in the Playdough isle they sell Crayola bathtub crayons that are like $3-6 I am not sure how much. You use them to draw on tile, or the bath tub then they wash right off. My cousins are almost 6 and they love to play with them.I hope that these ideas help you.
