A scrapbook is always something that willl help her capture those unforgetable moments of her new baby. As for the baby well i'd say you can get a stroller as they are very usefull and last a long time. Good luck, i hope this helps you with your decision.

My husband had our son's first pair of shoes bronzed. I absolutely loved the gesture and I think it was fairly inexpensive around $200. You could always get her something practical for now and express the sentiment later.Honestly, the retail world hypes up alot of baby products to first time parents, I myself am guilty. We had a ton of stuff we recieved as shower gifts or purchased ourselves that we never even opened up nevermind used.A friend of mine's cousin made her a scrap book filled with items from items collected throughout the pregnancy...ultrasound photos, wrappers from mom's favorite snacks, tickets to events they went to during that time, shower invitations, birth announcements. Pretty much anything and everything that recapped that 9 months. She had everyone at the shower write out cards with a blurb about mom and dad too it was nice I know she really appreciated it.

There are really cool baby gifts ideas that can be engraved. Go to the site I provided. You can get a keychain, a couple tins that can be personalized for baby, one that holds hair and one for the first tooth. Those will always be around so it won't matter how soon you give them as a gift. There's also the first x-mas engraved ornament. Check it out, hope it helps.

i think a cute one would be a personalized diaper bag... they have some on ebay that look really cool you can put the baby's name on it and she will also need that.

Seriously, I'd go with a scrapbook. No one needs any engraved anythings, but I haven't met a new parent who ever got around to filling in those "Baby's first Year" books properly. I didn't get to my daughter's at all, and am going to pack it away in her glory box so she has a chance at using it for hers! My sister is into scrapbooking and is making one of my daughter. I don't know if she ever intends giving it to her, but it does exist and she'll be able to look at it.What to get for practical purposes? If she's using cloth nappies, buy pilchers (nappy covers) in all sizes. You can't have too many of them! Good quality ones too, not the cheap ones. They soak through in half an hour.

A lot of people have mentioned the idea of a scrap book. This is a great idea and the more that goes into it the more cherished an item it will become. One of the most popular baby record books is Terra Traditions. They are beautiful books that become more personalized as the new mother tracks the milestones for her child.

You can get some personalised portraits or pictures for your sister and her baby too at http://www.paintyourlife.com. I am sure you know what your sister likes – pets, famous personalities, musicians, etc. Get some photos of those things or personalities and then send them to the professional artists at paintyourlife. They can turn any photo into a classical-looking oil painting or other type of portrait. That would be a nice keepsake. Check them out! They have great gift ideas for every occasion!
