Why don't liquor stores sell gift cards? You would think they would make a ton of money off of them!?

I asked at a liquor store, here in WA before and they said their computer system didn't allow it. I think if they update their computer system, the profit from the gift cards would make up for the new system.

I don't know. In Ontario the liquor store sells them. Maybe it's just the laws in your state?

The Liquor stores here in Washington State are owned fully by the state. My guess is the State has no interest in designing, marketing, and setting up a system for gift cards. Since it's the only way to buy Alcohol in the state they have no competition. If they had to compete with a different business they might do something like that. You could always try sending a letter to the Liquor Control Board and they might listen to you. But more than likely not. It's not enough gain to worry about it.
