If she'd rather you save your money, then cook her a nice dinner. It's something from your heart and something that she will always remember over any gift you could ever get for her.

My mother is the same. She loves anything Thomas Kinkade. Look him up on the net. Famous artists. Beautiful pieces. Also maybe some really good books. Go to a book store and look around you have to find something that sparks your eye for your mother.

I bet she would appreciate it if you built her something, like a bird house maybe. Or, if she only watches the news, maybe she'd like documentaries on historical events.

you could go down to the church and ask if the choir could come and sing on your front lawn for your mother, they may just do it for the pleasure of it seeing as it's her birthday. I'd love that if my kid did that for me.

Your Time-------Take her out for the day--lunch, movie, beauty make-over at a spa. Join a group or take a class together, choir, cake decorating, ceramics, paint a picture in a day (check local craft stores for classes)
