You spent a lot of time and effort putting thought into finding gifts for your husband's relatives, when he does not think of this type of thing himself nor do any chores unless asked while you are at work, and you spent hours making cookies for them and other things, then you found out that once again they abused him during a time when he is down, but he won't do anything about it? We have not gone out to visit and give the things yet.One of the sets of inlaws, the one most guilty of hurting him, I only picked out their gift coz they gave this time too, and they only want a show of respect, they only care about the appearance. It seems. But I went out of my way to make sure what I have gotten them is special for them. In any case. I do not want to go over there right now, and I know they do not want us over either. What has happened this time is his mother, who had moved across country after being cheated on and dumped, has passed away two days before Christmas. MORETHE REST: An older brother flew out to handle funeral arrangements, only to find out he would have to pay upfront. He couldn't do it without loans; we have offered to help with the headstone. So we are not total losers that they treat us like, in case you wondered. Anyways. The father who cheated and the stepmother said they would babysit our children while I went to work and get him a plane ticket to go. We did not ask; he did not think he would be going till they said all this stuff to him day after day this week. Well they just told him they won't be able to watch after all, and is he sure he really wants to go? He is devastated, once more, by them. What would you do? I did something bad and told him they never intended to help...coz this is what they always do. He is disabled; I work and can't miss work yet. They never visit or do anything with the kids unless another relative who wonders about them wants to see the kids. They don't think we are "worth" anything (literally) so they don't think they should bother. Never mind he raised this guy, this guy is not a loser like some guys who are disabled. I wonder if I'm going to hell, then are they too? For treating him so terribly? We figured out a way to do it, but he and I both wonder why they even extended all the offers in the first place. THEN to top it off, when we got home tonight, he had received a prim/proper email about responsibilities and whatnot, as if he asks for stuff and must be taught a lesson. They never babysit or anything anyway, never cared about me working, and always put us down. Linda, you have seen what I said a long time ago, that if we accept ANYTHING from them, they will blab to everyone that they were magnanimous martyrs who shouldn't have done anything; if we don't accept anything, then we are awful scourges to be avoided and deserve all hardships we have. ERG. But he has the plane ticket and is going. I'm going to anonymously mail them a bunch of money when I get enough to pay it off and that will once mre be the end of my interactions with them unless they can be human.

I am sorry that he has relatives who are so uncaring, but I think that I would stop buying them gifts, it seems like all they bring to you & him is heartache. Maybe it might be time to just take them out of your lives for a while, then just maybe they will realize that you are not going to take the mental & emotional abuse they keep dishing out. This might just make them wake up & realize how cruel they have been. But if they don't then it is the best for the 2 of you & even the children if they just stay away.

ya know theres always one in every family and you are not the only one who has this problem so you just have to take it the way it goes, i know that sounds lame but i wouldn't worry about it relatives seem to think they can tell you what to do and better because they think they are perfect and like to show off to other people and say they are the best relatives they can be because they might now even know you and believe every single word that person says i know my bf's son is like that he feeds people a bunch of bull and then they believe him just because he wants to teach his dad a lesson man if i were you i'd just do what ya got to do!!! and don't worry and if they don't like it oh well just throw it back in their faces
