|
|
| My sister-in-law recently had a shower and when she tried to return some duplicates to Target she was turned away. She had a registry showing that the items were purchased at Target, but they wouldn't even give her an in-store credit unless she had a reciept. They also told her if the items were purchased more than 90 days ago, were on clearance, or no longer in stock they wouldn't be accepted either. So basically if you worry about hassles returning gift items don't register at Target.Anyone else have problems with Target or anyother place they have registered at?She even called corporate and they wouldn't budge on their return policies. Make sure you find out before you register.I think that fraud could very well be an issue with their return policy, but I can't understand why they wouldn't take something back if it is on the registry as purchased....just mark the registry. |

| I was recently married and registered at Target. I am now telling everyone not to shop there. I was so mad. I registered there and received a set of pots & pans that i asked for on my resistry. On the registry the item was marked as fulfilled. When i went to return the item they would not even give me a store credit. I called their main office to no avail. They could tell me which target it was bought at how much it cost and still not even a store credit. They said they recently changed their policy. The pots & pans cost 150.00. I was going to use the credit to buy my kids some christmas presents. I asked the counter girl what i should do with the pans and i said i guess im just stuck with them. I said thanks a lot i guess i'll just stick them up my a**. I haven't bought another thing at Target since. They just lost a customer and I tell everyone I know not to register or shop there. If you do, make sure you keep your receipt or you are screwed. |

| I would try going to a different Target if there's another close. Or going at a completely different time of day. |

| Yes! registered at Target but I agree it was a pain to return stuff. People bought me stuff but it didn't get taken off of the registry (the clerk forgot to mark that it was "bought" on the registry), and I didn't have a receipt so they would not take it back even though it was their misktake! Also, the people in the store don't have any clue how to work with the registry -- at one point, someone bought me a Boppy pillow that I had not registered for (I wanted the My Breast Friend Pillow, it's much better), and the clerk at the store added the Boppy to my registry somehow. The only good thing is that they send you a 10% off coupon for anything on your registry (you can list your due date as earlier than it actually is to get the coupon early -- after all, you won't want to shop too much after the baby is born so it makes little sense to get the coupon after the baby is here!)All of that being said, Babies R Us is even worse. I had registered there and my sister bought us the car seat and stroller online, but when it arrived, they had sent us the wrong car seat (one that was 1/2 the price of the one she paid for!) First I called the store to ask if I could bring it back and if they would hold the right model for me. The said I could bring it back but refused to hold the right one in the store for me (by the way, the store is like 30 miles from my home so I wanted to avoid a separate trip). They said they have a policy against holding items. I tried to explain that this is not a hold, I bought this item and they sent me the wrong one so it really kind of belongs to me. They are totally incompetent there so I gave up. When I got to the store, they said that they would not do an exchange without my sister's receipt and that the gift receipt was worthless because it did not have the price on it. Hello, what's the point of a gift receipt if it cannot be used to return something?? My father, husband and I stood there and fought with them for like an hour about it, and I was like 7 months pregnant so of course I was really emotional and on the verge of tears. How could they give us that hassle when it was THEIR mistake!!! Clearly the receipt said one model and the box contained another. Finally, we were able to make an exchange, but I switched my registry and vowed to not shop there again. The problem is that there are very few options out there. USA Baby has been nice for us, we got our rocking chair there, but it is pricey. |

| Target does have a tough return policy, I'm assuming due to fraud issues. Personally I don't think they are unreasonable, just inconvenient. "R Us" company is pretty tough on returns too. Could your SIL just ask for the receipts and tell them that she received duplicates? If they don't have the receipts maybe she can eBay the stuff or give it to a womens shelter. |

| Everyone always has some kind of problem with a registry, but the one I see the most complaints about is definately Target.Other registries I've had problems with are usually cases where I register, and then two weeks later they discontinue the item. For my baby shower, I registered in November at WalMart and Baby's R Us, and by December, a full half of the items were 'no longer available' and I had to do it again. |

| If the people bought the stuff at Target, they are asked if they need a gift receipt. It is the fault of her guests for not including the gift receipt. Heck, I can't even pay for something at Target without being asked if I need a gift receipt. I've shopped at Target in 4 states too! |

No but that is strange.I returned something that I got at my shower without a problem..They just put it on a card when I told them that I didn't have a receipt & it was a shower gift..I wonder why they wouldn't let her?..Has the item been open or anything?..If not then Im at a loss..Maybe the store in your area had a different policy than the ones up here..I hate it for your Sil,maybe she can just save those things for other peoples showers later..Sorry |
