Well, if she didn't register, then get her a big box of diapers and wipes. She'll love it!

I would have to say dippers or something that they are going to NEED right away and maybe a step older dippers for them. they grow so fast!Oh and "Butt Past" dipper sash ointment. this stuff will clear up anything . . . even a rash on your arm! ~Shasta~

If your friend doesn't have a gift registry somewhere I'd go with a gift card. Trust me it may end up being your friend's favorite gift! Maybe go shopping with her too =) that way you can see the nice thing *s* bought with it. Main reason I'd go with the gift card is if there's no registry you might get the same thing someone else gets for her.

A booster seat! It doubles as a high chair and it's portable so you can take it to restaurants. It's the best money I ever spent on baby stuff....I give it now at any baby shower! At around $25, you can't go wrong.I leave mine in the trunk that way I always have it. The restaurant high chairs do not have trays and I can't be assured the table is clean. With this seat, they are safe, secure and have their own tray! There are a few brands out there, I have the Fisher Price Booster Seat. Here is a link:http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2001&e=detail&pid=27475If the link doesn't work, you can search for it at Toys R Us, etc. Best of luck. :)EDIT: see if you can cut and paste this link www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2001&edetail&pid=27475

I received a Bjorn baby carrier, and I just love it. It harnesses around mommy (or daddy), and the baby rides on your chest, and can face in or out depending on how old they are. It has been wonderful because when my son needs to be close to me, I still have my hands free.

I gave my best friend in the entire world a card that when she opened it up it said, "Two BIG Mama's!" because I found out I was pregnant a week before her shower. Well I also gave her a pink fuzzy blanket, a bassonet thats pink andn a little white bow on it. She definatley loved it.

Sometimes people get wrapped up in buying the real nice gifts when in fact it's better to get practical gifts that the new parents will definately 100 % need. For example: diapers, desitin, wipes, socks, receiving blankets, baby body wash, baby lotion,q tips. I would buy all this stuff and make a big beautiful basket. You can include some very nice stuff like a baby book from hallmark and maybe a picture frame since the new parents will probably go crazy with the camera. i think these gifts mean so much more than any fancy gift.

DIAPERS and more DIAPERS. Very essential. Diapers, receiving blankets, if you are getting clothes make sure to get bigger sizes as babies grow very fast! way too fast. they go through clothes like diapers.

Things that are useful like diapers and wipes are always great, but it sounds like you are looking for something a bit different.I had my baby a year ago, so I'll tell you what things were the most useful to me that make great gifts too.For one thing, I spent a couple hours at the store making a baby registry and noone used it. Literally maybe two guests got something off of the registry. So I had to go shopping for a TON of really basic stuff that I needed. People bought me so much baby clothes it wasn't even funny, and the baby grew out of them all within a month. She didn't even have a chance to wear them all. Here's a few things that I don't know what I would have done without.1. a boppy pillownot just for breastfeeding. It's a great place to prop the baby when you're just hanging out.2. Baby Einstein DVD'sIf it weren't for baby Einstein I seriously would not get anything done around the house. These movies completely mesmerize just about any baby and they are educational as well.3. A baby sling carrier - SO MUCH easier than using one of those front carriers with all the straps and buckles. and the baby loved it, plus you can breast feed discretely without anyone even knowing it.There's a baby gift guide on this webpage that has links to all of this stuff other cute stuff too.http://www.do-it-yourself-invitations.com/baby-shower-invitations.htmlscroll down the page a bit to get to the gift guide.

Personalized gifts are always special. How about a cute, personalized sign for the nursery that accents the décor? They have nice ones here: http://www.mysweetandsour.com/
