|
|
| My friend is due with baby #3 in june. I would like to give her a shower/meet and greet baby for family and friends. I know typically only first borns get showers, however no one ever threw her a shower with her other two children. They do still have all of their baby stuff from the last baby, and they will be the same gender - so she doesn't need much. The basics really. Whats standard etiquette for asking for gifts on invitations without a registry??She really only needs things like diapers, wipes, newborn summer clothes (her last was born late fall), that sort of thing. She doesn't need toys. Can you put 'No toys please' or is that tacky?? Or just not put anything and tell people if they ask, to just get the basics? |

| Etiquette says don't tell people what to buy or anything. Just send an invitation, and don't include anything about gifts. If she didn't want gifts you could say "no gifts please" but anything else is tacky. You can't ask for gifts and you can't tell people how to spend their money. |

| You could just have her register for the basics. My friend just threw me a shower for my second baby and that is what I did: diapers, wipes, bottles, small items I can't seem to find from the first (my son is 5 now) and a few newborn clothing items...my first was a boy and this one is a girl. |

| Etiquette does say not to mention specific gifts. The nicest way to do it is to have her register at a couple places for basic things she needs and write a note saying: Jenny has registered for items she needs at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us. |

| Well I've been to many showers where they already have other kids... so usually it's not a baby shower but they call it a "diaper shower" that way everyone can take diapers, wipes and other things like lotion, shampoo etc. |

| I would just take her to register at target or walmart, or wherever, and they give u a print out to stick in ur invitations. People are going to buy what they want to buy, Im sure it will be ok for the new baby to get some new toys or whatever of his own, but most people will stick to the registry. |

| Throw a diaper shower. A baby shower where the theme is specifically diapering the baby. If you Google diaper showers you can get so great ideas for invitations, wording and such so that people know that is the gift that they should bring. |
