I am a college student with a limited budget, and my friend is having a shower and a bachelorette party. Am I expected to give a gift at those events, plus a wedding gift?I am a college student with a limited budget, and my friend is having a shower and a bachelorette party. Am I expected to give a gift at all of those events, plus a wedding gift? I am already paying for the norm: dress, shoes, hair, mani/pedi, etc.

You are not required to give gifts at all three events, especially if you are hosting one of them. You can give just one (for the wedding) or two (for the shower and the wedding). If you don't bring a shower gift I would at least give a card. If you choose to give three, I'd get a small registry gift for the shower, a gag gift for the party, and a thoughtful gift for the wedding couple.

You really only need to bring one for the wedding and if you ask on here apparently that is optional anyway (I believe you should always give a wedding gift no matter what). If you are a bit strapped for cash how about just for the wedding and the shower. You could get what you want to give them for the wedding and for the shower just get something small or make her something.I have never heard of giving anything at the bachelorette party. You usually just pay for your part of the amusements and refreshments for the night.

You have to get a shower gift and a wedding gift. The bachelorette party doesn't need a gift. Maybe a fake veil or tiara from Clair's, but nothing expensive. If the gift thing is too expensive for you see if the other maids or some other friends will "Chip in" with you for a great group gift.

For the shower and the wedding. Cost isn't important, choose something special within your budget.

I think not - it's an unreasonable expectation.
