|
|
| My sister has just bought a new home with her fiance. They are due to get married this July, and would really appreciate money rather than gifts. My sister attended a wedding last year and a poem was actually put in with the wedding invitation, making light of asking for money rather than gifts. It ended something like, Dont think were strange dont think us funny, if you want to give a gift please give us money. Any ideas of where we may find the poem, or does anyone know the poem we are talking about. |

| Unfortunately you really shouldnt ask people to give you money, even if it's a cute poem it comes out rude...otherwise I would have done it! haha |

| I don't think a poem is appropriate. 'Monetary gifts preferred' is a better phrase to use. |

| Hi. It's nice that you want to help your sister out. However, please let her know that the friends that used the "cute poem" did so in very poor taste. Some on here will say ...."it's fine"....but in truth...it is NOT. You never mention anything about gifts or no gifts (and certainly not money) on an invitation. There is NO cute way of doing it.This question is asked at least once a week. You are not the first to ask.Tell your sister to NOT register anywhere. Once her guests see that she is not registered, they will give a card with money (hopefully). Let her know, however, that many people DO like to buy gifts, so she may get something she doesn't like. She should register for a few things, that way her guests have an option. But, please tell her that asking for money ....and there is no "cute" way of doing it....is a big NO NO. |

| Helo, My fiance and I are actually in same dilemma! We would like money to buy a new kitchen and are trying to write a poem ourselves. A work colleague has seen one at a friend's wedding and has promised that she will try to get hold of it- I will keep you posted. I really dont think there's anything wrong with asking for money! x |

| My friend did the same, she had a poem about a wishing well. Was a lovely poem. I'm afraid that i can't remember where she got the poem from, but have you thought of Googling for wedding poems? |
