How do I be polite about my boyfriend's Valentine's gift?

He bought me a razor, a kind I used to use before I discovered it cut my legs all to hell and gave me horrible ingrown hairs. It was really sweet that he got me anything at all, because we don't normally do anything for Valentine's day, and I didn't expect anything.I used the razor once, just so he'd know I appreciated it, and now I'm covered in little red bumps. I don't want to throw the razor away, because he'll be sad, but he's going to wonder why I'm using my old razor instead of the sparkly pink one he bought me.He's one of those guys who makes a really big deal about being 'thoughtful', and I don't want to disapoint him. What can I do? My legs look like raspberries!
