Is it ok to return a favor to someone?

lately me and my ex had been dating. Well we have this special friendship going on for a year after we broke up. But no commitment attached. He has been sweet lately.I don't know what's with him but I don't want to jump into conclusions that he is coming back. Im done with those illusions. We went out for dinner last weekend, went to visit his family. then awhile ago he dropped me to my office but we had coffee. Then he bought me a gift. He also gave me a nice blouse a week ago. So there, I havent buy him a christmas gift yet. So should I give him one. And any suggestion.
