| I am going to be getting a laptop for my early graduation gift of getting my BA coming this July, my mom said for that she's going to get me a laptop. What brands are the best and please give reasoning if you can. Please let me know so I can do the research on them, thank you.I'm not sure how to reply to my own question, but I heard that Dells get real hot and don't last too long. Are they really a good laptop purchase if done so? |

| Don't get a Gateway they overheat and shut down. Toshibas are great computers, good price, lots of hard drive and no problems. |

| Do you prefer a PC or Mac? More specifically what is your operating system of choice. This is entirely preference only, so no one can answer this part. If you prefer Mac OS X then get a Macbook Pro, if you prefer Windows/Linux, then get a Dell. You can get a high end XPS laptop relatively cheap. If you need it for gaming and don't care about how heavy it is, you may want to look at alienware.Response to your question: I'm not sure which Dell you're referring to, but any Dell with a Core 2 Duo processor in it isn't likely to run too hot. If you're worried how how long it'll last, get a 3 year warranty and you'll be set. Generally laptops with AMD processors in them will get hotter, but that doesn't have anything to do with the name brand of the laptop itself. |

They found teck support top notch&less susceptible to most viruses than Windows based computersDell;longer battery life&more features. The Apple runs warm. Best lightwt. Toshiba Sattelite U305-S5077, $900.00 Hope this narrows the search! |
