| Best thing to do is look up the etiquette section of a Lonely Planets book on Germany. You will find a lot of useful information about that in Germany.When I lived there and was given a present I was encouraged to open it immediately and I thanked the host family. But that was some time ago. I think your best bet would be look this up or follow the lead of other delegates and the hosts. |

| I don't know about the specific rules of etiquette in Germany, however, my boss is natively a German, and when she gives wrapped gifts, she anticipates they will be opened immediately so that she can see the reaction. However, she has been living in the US for many years, where this is the custom, as well. |
