My best friend just moved into a new condo in Queens with her husband. I need to get them a housewarming gift but I have a couple restrictions.1) I live in Chicago and will need to have it mailed.2) My friend does not have a car so a gift certificate to a big box store like the Home Depot is not a good gift since they can't go there. Thanks SO MUCH for the help!

Something my mother in law got as a housewarming gift was a few visits from a house cleaning service like " Merry Maids" to come to her house. I think she got like a month or something. After all the unpacking and stuff, she really appreciated it!

I would shop for something on Amazon.com or similar and look for kitchen or decorative items. This way you can have it shipped directly to your friend and it's easy to return if they need to. Something always appreciated are towels, sheets, etc. I like Amazon because so many things will ship free, and you know they will get there within the estimated time, and packed safely. Good luck!

Go online to Wine Country Gift Baskets and find a suitable basket to send them. Most baskets do not offer wine but if they like it and the State they live in allows wine to be shipped, it's a great gesture. I sent my father a basket with everything for cooking on the grill. He loved it. Their prices run from $25 to around $300 and they have tons of choices. The company does a great job. I use them a lot for many occasions.

Well, perfect choice might be a gift basket. Something like that:http://blogontap.com/gifts/2008/03/30/gift-idea-for-gourmets/You can mail it directly to her, and it's beautifully presented. Who wouldn't love a basket full of fine food as a housewarming gift?

how about a custom designed clock to be placed on the living room or bedroom? I recommend this product Die Cast Clock - Sail Ship from http://www.ezpersonalizedgifts.com
