that color does not exist as a dress color in satin at David's bridal. There is 1 dress but it's tafetta. & they have their mix and match seperates in tafetta. But I don't like the look of that for the bridesmaids. So, I thought I was set on the wine, but I got a swatch & it looks dark so my friend (possible BM) & I will be going to the store & she is going to try on both the apple red & wine dresses while I try on the big poufy sweet 15/16 ballgown in white & stand next to me (so as not to jinx myself by trying on actual wedding dresses). & we'll take pics. But I've already bought ribbon in burgandy. So would red dresses and burgandy details look bad? Or (dark) wine dresses with burgandy accents. (ribbons, ink color, stuff like that)& I'm wondering how the colors would photograph. Anyone have any ideas? Also I',m not sure if I will have 3, 4 or 6 BMs - I may buy their dresses as their gift. I don't want to waste money. I would like them to be able to wear again.

Keep in mind that NOBODY ever wears a Brudesmaid gown again. Ever...it goes into the closet and a few years later - the Goodwill. So dont make your decision based on wearing the dress again.

well what type of flowers are you going to have? If you have red roses then the apple red would be nice to accent the flowers and as far as the burgandy accents you do not want to much of the same color or it might look like too much ya know i would go with whatever you think would suit your likes it is your big day after all it should be your way

i think i would go w/ the wine..apple red is so common now for weddings. it seems like everyone uses this kind of red. the wine might give it a unique feel with it still being red. i know it will look dark on the swatch but when everything is pulled together it will look great. you have to picture it w/ the accent colors you will use. and i know what you mean about the cabernet. i myself have been looking at davids bridal colors. it is a good idea to take pics to see if you really like it. i was under the impression that the wine is a purple/red.the only prob is it might look too purple with the burgundy accents you want to use. as far as getting the dresses as a gift, i think it's a good idea if you can do that. maybe have your girls pick out the style they like and just make sure they all have the same material!

Why not look somewhere else for bridesmaid dresses? David's Bridal isn't the only chain out there. Alfred Angelo has tons of different colors.I like both apple and wine reds. My future SIL is doing apple. And, honestly, if it is a bridesmaid dress, the chances that they will be able to wear again are slim to none. I don't think I have ever met anyone who has been able to reuse their bridesmaid dress.

One manufacturer's apple red is another manufacturer's wine or merlot or whatever. Just like two different manufacturers might have a merlot but they will be completely different colors. For that reason, don't focus on color names and just pretend it's red#1, red#2, etc. Use the actual shades instead. To be honest, you are the only one who will even notice them. Your attendants and even your guests will just think "ooh what pretty colors" and move on to enjoy the wedding. No one will throw a fit if something doesn't match exactly.

Please keep in mind that satin appears lighter than taffeta because of the shine. Burgundy in taffeta appears darker than burgundy in satin. You can also get more items in burgundy that would blend well. If you go with "apple", you might end up with brick or fire engine and that's what the manufacturer calls apple. I think apple satin dresses are too much, too bright, etc., but that's just my opinion. I like burgundy better.
