Do I have a chance?

OK, I'm a freshman and I really like this girl. I've liked her since December. Anyway, we were talking and I think it was going well. Now, the turning point in this was on Valentine's Day when I got her a stuffed puppy and her fav. CD. I had a plan. I was gonna catch her after school and give her the gift and ask. The problem was, she was going home with her friend so I had to give her the gift in front of her best friend (who doesn't really approve of me that much). She looked a little shocked and embarrassed so I felt like crap. The next day, in the morning, she finds me and asks me to walk with her. She told me that she's gone through a lot lately with school and band and her cousins moving into her house and chores and all that and she wasn't sure if she cared about me the way I cared about her. She also said (and this is what hurt me the most) that she didn't know if she still had feelings for her ex. So whaddaya'll think? Do I have a chance?
