Don't get her an animal! That's not fair to her (suppose she doesn't WANT an animal) or to the animal (suppose she doesn't WANT an animal). As to suggestions, it's hard to give you ideas since we don't know what type person she is. The practical gift would be a gift card to Linens n Things so she could purchase what she needs. If you want to actually get something, one of my favorite gifts to give is a set of 8 clear coffee mugs and 8 clear (no design) dessert plates. Perfect for having guests by for coffee and cake!

Not weird but maybe awkward if she doesn't like it she can't just throw it away or return it. Try something like a very soft bath towel set or Egyptian sheets.

A pet is a huge responsibility with the care, feeding, clean up, vet bills, boarding expenses when she travels, etc., so I would suggest a gift without that type of difficulty attached to it.How about martini glasses from crate and barrel or lounge music great for cocktail parties.

Pink baking dishes, pink pans, pink pots, pink mixers! (or you can do blue, green, orange or red...I like the pink!)Visit ikea! Their kitchen section is amazing. You can get all the crazy utensils that she could possibly want and put them in a giant bowl for under 40$! I say no to the kitten idea because that is a very personal choice. You can get her a fish (but that'll cause problems if she does get a cat). You can get her a plant. Also, if she is renting she may not be able to have a cat (in my last place I had to pay 300$ to move my cat in with me). |

Inexpensive and always appreciated housewarming gifts are really unique picture frames. I've NEVER been in a house that didn't have at least a couple photos scattered around the house...and a lot of cherished photos never make it into frames because people just never seem to think of buying them when they're out and about...and don't really take the time to make special trips just to get one.

I agree, I would not get her a pet. Why not get her personalized wall decor that uses her name. Customize the Hollywood Sign with her name on it. Or spell her name in fireworks over a city. Hundreds of choices. I bet she's never seen anything like it and she'll think it's really cool.http:www.mypersonalprint.com
