OK so my bf is really sweet and really funny... but he's not a very good bf. I've tried asking him to start being much more open, but he just doesn't get it. For example, he told me he was getting me a gift for Valentine's day. Well it's now April and he hasn't given it to me. He never answers my texts and can be really immature when i talk to him about it. On the other hand, he doesn't defend me, his parents read his emails and txts. So they end up telling their frnds and family. But he doesn't say anthing. I've tried breaking up w/ him, but it's hard, i've known him since the 6th grade and my emotions for him always take over. What do you think i should do?

He doesnt seem to deserve you. How is it that he can be sweet when he doesnt even have the decency to reply to your text messages? You deserves someone who will make you feel safe in his arms and gives you the "aww" feeling when he says something. He might do that already on a small part, but if he makes promises he doesnt keep that is not a good sign. I know it may be hard because you have known the boy for such a long time, but maybe he doesn't realize how good he has it until you aren't there anymore. If you show him what he is missing he will probably get his act together more. He doesn't see how good a gf you are to him and he should stand up for you. If you breaking up with him doesnt make him see how much he wants you back, then he definately does not deserve you and there are plenty of great guys out there looking for the opportunity to get to be with someone great like you. It is good that he is funny, but in a relationship you need more than that.
