|
|
I'm due in early Oct and I've already started put some baby stuff into my online gift registry. Yes it's a little early but I'm excited so lay off... I've got a question for all the northern - climate moms out there. Should I buy any short sleeved onsies, or just get all long sleeved ones? I'm only registering for clothing in the 0-6 month range and I'm just curious - Have you ever used any short sleeved ones in winter, or would it be a waste of money? I'm seeing alot of really cute short sleeved ones that I'm tempted to put on the registry but I'm not sure on this one... I know it's kind of a lame question but just a first timer looking for some quick insight from a veteran. Thanks! |

| believe me you will want long sleeved shirts that fold over the hands in the beginning til you can get the nails trimmed down so baby wont scratch themself!!I;m in the south and its warm and baby wears these cause i haven been able to get her calm enough yet to get her nails trim and she pulls mittens off. |

| All the short sleeved onsies we had for our daughter for winter months were under other shirts. I would say just go for the white ones they are so much easier to get the breastmilk/formula stains out of. |

| It's not lame, I get excited and do the same things ha but nah if I was you, I'd get both, only because you could wear the short sleeved ones on them when they're inside, depending on how warm you keep yer house, you know what I mean? Good luck!. |

| I used short sleeved onses for my son. If he got cold I would then put a long sleeved shirt on him. Do not worry about what other people think. I know that I was embarressed when I went shopping for clothes when I was pregnant with my son, but you have to buy the clothes somehow. |

| I live in Canada, have 7 kids and honestly I have never used a long sleeved onesie. The short sleeve are fine because the baby will be wearing long sleeved clothes and a snowsuit.Congratulations and it's perfectly okay for you to be excited. |

| I live in the shuswap ( b.c. canada) and I did have short sleeves for my baby boy. If you like your house warm then long sleeve might be to hot for baby, or going to someone elses house. they might have it hot. I just always had a sweater on top if it was to cold. also it looks cute with a long sleeve shirt then a short sleeve shirt on top of that. wouldnt hurt to have a couple |

| Try not toput seasonal stuff on a registry. Sure it looks adorable, but what's available now isn't necessairly going to be there in Sept/Oct.For onesies, I'd register for a few packs of both long sleeve and short sleeve in newborn and 0-3 months. For other clothes, especially if your registering at Babies R Us, don't put other clothes other than layette (onesies, socks, undershirts) on the registry, because it changes alot, and the description on the registry isn't going to match the actual clothing item. |

I liked having long and short sleeved onsies because we sometimes used the short sleeved ones to layer under longer sleeved clothing and because it can get really hot IN your house, which is presumably where your newborn will be spending a lot of time! Specifically, the best plain onsies we found (by far) are called SpaSilk and you can get them at Babies R Us. Thicker, softer and better made than a lot of the others out there - I would only have those if I were picking everything myself. That said...think about getting things for post 6 months. I thought I needed all this 0-6 month stuff, and they grow so fast...at 4 months, my daughter is mostly into 6-9/6-12 month clothing already...I had TONS of gifts and clothes, way more than she could ever have used for 0-6 months...and now, just a few months after she was born, we have to go out and buy tons of stuff _ Seriously, no matter what you ask for, you will get a TON of newbie stuff...ask for some other things to round out what you get, hopefully. In the first couple of months, they wear pretty basic stuff anyhow. Most of the fancier stuff, as cute as it was, just wasn't practical. Now that my daughter is getting to the point where she can start to wear fun stuff, we have boxes and boxes of clothes that don't fit her and off to the store we go...!Have FUN! |

| Well I'm not sure about the winter thing but I do use short sleeved onesies now and it's cold enough to have a space heater on here. (I live in China near Russia). The thing is if you have central heating it's not going to be really "cold" for your little one except when he goes outside...and even then you'll be working with layers. I know my little girl got overheated if I put her into long sleeves when I swaddled her and had the heater on. I found that using a short sleeved onesie under a long sleeve sleeper works great since then if she gets too hot I can remove one and still not have to worry about her getting too cold. As for the comment about his fingernails that shouldn't be a problem if you just use gloves. |

| I would get a few packs of long sleeves also, because those do come in really handy especially under pajamas ad things like that. |
