Can you register at multiple places? We're only going to have 25 people at our wedding, though we're inviting about 50. I'm not sure what's appropriate or not as far as a gift registry goes. What do you think? Where are good places to register?Oh...and how soon should you register?

Personally, I think Bed, Bath and Beyond is the best place. They have just about everything and they have things in every price point. I recently heard Linens and Things is going out of business. I'm not sure how true that is, but I might stay away from them.I've heard Macy's is pretty good too. If you are having a small amount of people, I'd have just one registery.

I think registering at multiple places is good. My favorites would be a place like Target or Bed Bath and Beyond and a department store like Macy's or Belks. Those types of stores carry a wide variety of useful items, and they have things at multiple price points from relatively inexpensive to very high end and pricey. I've also heard about those honeymoon registries (e.g. thebigday.com), where you can register for parts of your honeymoon instead of traditional things for your home. Thats an option too.You can register as many places as you want. I'd just be careful not to register for the same kinds of things at multiple places....just in case you get duplicates. Also, if it were me, I'd register as soon as you can. Some people will really want to get you a gift off your registry even if they cannot attend the wedding.

Boscovs has a really good cash back program 10% of every sale off your registry comes back to you in a gift card! That is where I am registering along with an easy moderately priced store like Target. I wouldn't put a ton on there so the guest do not feel overwhelmed beings as there aren't many people coming to the wedding. But make sure there is enough for people to choose. You can register at any time, I am getting married in December and people have already started asking, some people like to shop early I guess. I would say about 6 months before, or as soon as you know what you need!

It is really up to personal preference. Here are some general guidelines you can adapt to whatever you need. How Many: It is becoming more common to register at 2 to 3 places, but some couples pick one place, like Bed, Bath & Beyond because they have everything, are almost everywhere, and are online too. What to register for: You should try to register for at least 100 items since you are inviting 50 people (2 items per invited guest) in multiple price points. Why double? Because people like options, some people want to give multiple gifts, because one potential guest may give on three seperate occastions, engagement, shower and wedding. Where to Register: I have heard wonderful things about registering at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Macy's is a classic wedding registry store. I hadn't heard about the 10% back from Boscovs but that is nice too. Sorry to hear about L&T closing. I have heard bad things about gift registries at Target, that their online system is behind and doesn't always register purchases, so you end up with alot of doubles and their registry return policy leaves much to be desired. I also think a home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes can be a good idea to register for tools and grills and such. Let your guy get in on the fun. I also love honeymoon or travel registries like honeyfund or liberty travel, or continental airlines. Another idea is Amazon.com, which has a done of items, is available internationally and couples can include things like dvds and games or even camping gear. There are even websites now that will make one master registry but include random items from unlimited numbers of websites. When to register: I am of the philosophy of the sooner the better, especially if you have anounced your engagement or there might be an engagement party or bridal shower. But if you register too soon, stay on top of your registry. make changes and watch for discontinued items. But pick a date to stop editing the registry.Who to tell: Let your mother and bridal party spread the word about your registry. Only tell guests directly if they ask you. You can include it on your wedding webpage if you have one, but some people find it tacky to include registry info in your invitation.

Register online! Its the modern way. My fiance and I are using this site.www.thingsthatiwant.com you can create a wishlist that shows your priority rating of items (1-5), the cost of the item and the cheapest place to purchase the item. You can then register items from as many stores as you like. Smile"they" say you should register at least 4-6 months prior to the wedding... but I think its okay to just try to be registered before the invites are sent out.

I would register at Bed, Beth and Beyond and also at Wal*Mart (Or meijer). That way your guests have a more expensive place and a more cheap place to shop. Also, I have a Wal*mart by my house and not a BB&B, so I would shop at the place that is more convenient for me. It's nice to have options.Have Fun!!!
