What are the rules for bringing wine on an airplane?

I went to Napa recently and bought three bottles of wine for gifts. I'm visiting my family tomorrow and I was wondering how I was going to bring them with me. Do I just put them with my check bag, or will they take it out and confiscate it if I do that? I don't think I can carry it on, or can I with a special permit or something?I'm going from LAX to Kansas City, if that makes a difference.The carrier is Frontier Airlines. You must make sure that the bottles are inside your luggage (for check-in) and not on your carry-on.
