No registry information is available. The couple has been married before and both are over 50 years old.I really think a gift card is too impersonal for a wedding gift...any ideas?

take their invite and get it framed with their wedding colors. they always come out nice, and everyone always enjoys it.

A handmade piece of art (pottery, glass, metal or wood) can be meaningful. Pieces are available in all price ranges at art fairs or galleries, or try shopping at museum gift shops. These places have many beautiful things that are practical as well. For example, you could get a unique bowl for the center of the kitchen table to hold fruit.

I heard that some people like when you take the wedding invite and frame it so they will have it to remember.

Actually, a gift card is not impersonal as long as you package it well to maintain the element of surprise. See the link below for some ideas. http://www.giftcardblogger.com/tips-for-buying-wedding-gift-cards/

My MIL makes a really beautiful wedding invitation shadow box for any wedding she attends.. It's personal, not very expensive and very easy to do..Get a shadow box frame from Michaels/Pat Cantans.. Be sure it fits the invite and leaves room for other mementos like matchbook, napkin etc... You can personalize it with bridal colors or fake florals. Get some black velvet, it looks classy and glue it to the cardboard backing.. Hot glue works well or a thick craft glue... Then place your objects around the frame...Find the right placement and glue everything down... *I got married in Las Vegas and my reception was casino theme so I have two very cute but, very different shadow boxes I have them hanging on the wall with my wedding pictures...

when couple do not register anywhere it is supposed to be a big HINT to the guests that they want money instead of gifts. so give them money.

What about a gift certificate to a day spa? Its something they could use together, and who doesn't need some time to unwind?!!

I'm speaking from experience... please don't get them a picture frame or a photo album, go with money. I realize that some think that it's cold, but it's the most practical and most appreciated by couples! As a thirty something getting married for the first time, I can tell you that I don't need blenders, toasters or frames, but I could use some extra cash to replace a window or two. Go practical. Give money. Good luck!

You might want to consider getting them a joint present, like a gift certificate at their favorite store. Just a thought.
