How to build a Mechanical Skeleton?

Ok so this friend of mine had a dream which involved a skeleton that when you pulled a lever would sit up, extend its arm at a 90 degree angle from its body (paralleling the floor), rotate its hand and pour you a beer, funny I know. Then I got to thinking about it and concluded that there must be a way to build something like that, so I'm out to give it a try and, hopefully, have it done by Christmas as a joke/really cool Christmas gift for them. If anybody has any suggestions on how to go about building this please clue me in...I'm majoring in biochem so I've already got the skeleton and, well, the beer it's just the mechanics I need some help with.
