So I had a baby shower 5 years ago for my son and my mother-in-law was the one that put it together. Now im 5 months pregnant with a little girl. My grandma and aunt want to put together a little baby shower for my husband and myself. Do you think it's wrong for us to have another shower. I mean im kinda in the middle like i dont want people to think that we want to have a shower to just get gifts. We arent like that and i feel bad because they really want to have this for us. Is it ok to have another shower?

There is nothing wrong with having another shower. It is to celebrate the baby. Plus, after 5 years you probably don't have a lot of the stuff you had the first time.

It's absolutely fine to have another baby shower. You may still have things you can use again now, but there are things that you don't have that can get pricey just starting out with a new baby. Example: Diapers, diaper wipes, baby lotions, powders, teething gel, diaper rash ointment, shampoos and body washes, etc. I know, I just had a new baby girl(4 months old now) and my oldest daughter is 11. I do have all the hardware but, of course, didn't have all the other stuff. If I had to go out and buy all that stuff right up front in would be costly. Have the shower, some fun and enjoy the many new "girly" things you will get. Congrats.

People won't think that about you. Let them have both showers and put on the registry lots and lots of diapers. Maybe you will get lucky and not have to buy them for a long time. Take duplicates back to the store if you get any and trade them for things you didn't get. I had two showers. One was from a church I was going to, and then we switched churches shortly before I had my baby. The preacher's wife approached me and asked me if I wanted a shower. I was up front with her and told her I had already had one and they wanted to have me another. I felt a tad guilty for a while but I came to realize that if it is something someone wants to do for you and the baby, there is no need to feel guilty. Just tell them all how much you appreciate it and enjoy all the cake!

If you were having a shower for your 5 year old I would say no, but this is a new baby and that is what showers are for. People are going to buy for the baby anyway why not have a good time and feed them and play games too. Don't worry, it will be fine. Let them spoil you. Congratulations.

That's really sweet of them to put this together for you, it's totally fine anyways- people want to celebrate this miracle with you. Besides how much cute girly things do you have if you had a son the first time Wink I'm sure you'll already do this, but graciously accept any gifts you recieve, and follow them up with nice (handwritten) thank you notes... have fun and congratulations!!!

Yes, it is completely OK. You are having a baby that is a different sex than your first child so you will need clothes, crib bedding (Unless your first one is unisex). Diapers are a big help too.

I know how you feel.. sounds like we are similar in the way that we dont like people doing things for us or buying us stuff because we feel bad.. I believe its some deep down thing about 'owing people something or depending on others' have the shower! if people dont want to buy you things they wont go. Everyone loves babies.. you have to put up with all the annoying things that come with pregnancy, spoil yourself, if someone else is throwing it for you then why not! noone will think anything of it! have fun mummy Smile
