I haven't received them, but I've given them...gift cards to Wal-Mart...my friend said that they used them on their honeymoon to buy gas for the drive and food once they got to the cabin.

One of my fiance's aunts got us this gorgeous hat box. In it she put in a pie plate, rolling pin, pot holders, dish towels, stuff to make a pie crust, and apple pie filling. I love to bake so it was wonderful! Plus I'm using the hat box right now for my wedding jewelry, tiara, and such. A very thoughtful gift!

My boss & his wife gave us a trivit for using under a hot dish at the table. We have been married over 41 yrs and are still using that trivit at least 2 X per week. We used it much more in years past when we had kids still at home. I can't even think of another wedding present that we still have.

There wasn't one. The things we received that weren't on our registry were either really poor quality or something that wasn't our taste. The only things that we received that weren't on our registry that we liked we some heirloom type things.

If you want to get somethin more personal than a gift card, you could get some kind of home decor item. I got these really cool bird statue things (sorry - not sure how to describe them!) that I absolutely love. I put them on our mantle over the fireplace in our new house. It was nice to get a thoughtful gift that some one hand-picked that wasn't on the registry. They did a great job!

Some gorgeous 'vases' that my parents gave us. They told us it was the start of our 'something useless but beautiful' collection! I love them - they are coloured glass things that are a similar colour as our wedding colours! They really are nice.Oh - the other thing was a photo (from an aunt who takes professional artistic photos) that was blown up and framed. She gave us a choice and we chose of a few and they were all gorgeous. The other good gift we got - which may not be my 'favorite' but definately the most useful and fitting for a new marriage - is a book by Gary Chapman called "The 5 Love Languages". It really is a good book.Hope this gives you some ideas - but it really does depend on the couple you are giving it to!P.S. Don't get gift cards unless it is to some really big department store that sells everything and anything... we got lots of towels and sheets for our wedding and then got a gift card to a bed and bath store - we couldn't find anything that we didn't already have!

We didn't have a registry, but received many wonderful gifts. Actually, the most used is an electric frying pan, quite large - we use it for everything from chili to frying eggs.
