Not asking about the proportion of gifts on your registry that you received.I'm just curious at how many of your guests paid attention or looked at the registry at all, because I don't know how much to bother with setting one up if few of them will use it.

like, 5 people out of about 150...lol! I would say if you don't already have a place of your own with your own kitchen and bathroom furnishings then it is always a good Idea to set one up...Bed bath and beyond has an Awesome selection and it is not just froufrou crap. they have fun stuff too. and decorative things. If you have already set up house then don't worry about it. If people get you something you don't need then you can return it and get cash (and we all need cash, right?) Hope this helps! Congrats!

I don't know the percentages of people that use them, but I love registries. I never have any clue what to buy for people, but when they have a registry, I walk into the store, pick out a couple of things I live that are in my price range, and I'm done. I can't imaging why anyone would not want to use one. Why worry over what to get aperson, when you can know that you got them something they will like?

Yes, BBB is the only place that you can trade stuff in for cash- but only stuff that is on your registry. I registered at BBB and Macy's, and I've received 3 gifts from Macy's and my wedding is in 1 month. 5-31, yay. I have friends whose registries were completely filled, though- hundreds of items. We sent out about 90 invitations, so not a ton. I think most people automatically check macys.com theweddingchannel.com and theknot.com We weren't going to register, but people who were out of town and couldn't come started asking us where we were registered at. Think of some things you might want 5 or 10 years down the road- like some nice china for Turkey Day dinner, etc. We didn't register for fine china, but I picked a nicer casual china that I LOVE. I'm glad I'll be able to use it every day instead of just once a year, and I hope I get some more of it!

All presents except for one (and except for those who just decided to give us money) were from our registry. Basically, if someone wanted to buy us an actual gift they looked at the registry. Even the gift that wasn't from the registry was small and was accompanied by a gift that was from the registry. Some people just wanted to give money though.

About 95% of the non-cash gifts we received were from the registry.

At my shower I would say about 45 of the 50 guests purchased things from my registry. The few guests who didn't buy off the registry bought me gorgeous one of a kind things..I loved every single gift. I think you will find most people do buy off the registry..it just makes life easier for the guest. Do the members of your family/social circle usually buy from the registry? I think that's a good indicator if they will do the same for you. Most people buy a registry gift for the shower and give cash as a gift at the wedding. I think it's worth it to do one.

Maybe 75%We didn't exactly have a registry though - we just had a gift list that we wrote up and our parent's gave to anyone who wanted to see so people could buy the gifts from anywhere.I will suggest one thing - write down a list of things you DO NOT want to receive! We ended up getting over 50 wine glasses between our engagement (which we said no pressies) and our wedding (where there were no wine glasses listed). We are greatful for the gifts of course - but 50 wine glasses - and all different styles????!!!!
