My best friends dog was ran over and killed yesterday. She and her husband are devastated. What's a good gift to help them remember their beloved dog? Anyone know of any good websites that offer personalized gifts to celebrate their dogs life or something unique they can remember him by?

You could find a nice photograph and have it framed for them. You could even have a shadow box with the collar inside.

If the dog was a specific breed, make a donation to the breed club rescue in their name in memory of their dog.If their dog is a mix, do that for another rescue or shelter. You could sponser a dog in their name. Ask the rescue to send them a card. You do the same and tell them that in memory of their dog, you are saving another dog's life. You could give them a picture of the dog you sponsored so they can actually see the life they saved. It's a very nice gesture so that something good comes out of the bad.

I don't know of any websites but you could make a collages of pictures of the dog or even just a nice card. The best gift I got when I lost my 1st dog was a really nice jewelry box that had a picture of my baby on the front, it was lovely.

Why not donate some money or time in their dog's name to a no-kill shelter?

there is a poem called rainbow bridge, or something to that fact...I'm sure you could do a search online and find it quickly...it is about the passing of animals....you could print it and frame it as a gift...

A pet album would be perfect or maybe something of a scrap book. If you have enough pictures of the doggy you can create the scrap book yourself. If you can get a good picture of them maybe holding the dog you can get it imprinted on a mug or a plate....maybe on a t-shirt. Something that they keep for a while. Things Remembered has great gift ideas that you can get engraved.

If the loss in very new, then do nothing for a while, as the only thing your friend and her husband will want initially is their dog back. When I lost my two oldest Dobes within 6 months of each other last year, my mother purchased a locket for me with a picture of Beau on one side and Becca on the other. I hardly ever take it off.For me it took a long time before I could look at their photographs, so I agree that sponsoring a dog in their name is a lovely idea or a donation to a breed rescue/shelter.What I did like on the Kodak website is to have your favourite photographs turned into a book.

When I had a friend lose a very special dog, I got her a 'memory box' with a spot to put a favourite photo on the lid. Inside they can put whatever they want that reminds them of the lost dog.The All-Breed club I am a life member of sends a monetary donation to canine health research in the name of the dog, whenever a club member's dog dies.

Get a gravestone and make a nice memorial for them. I'm sure they'd appreciate it. Good Luck
