|
|
| I will be 25 on Saturday. I kept my 'plans' open (as usual) so that way I could do something fun/spontaneous on my birthday. Well I found out a week ago that my VERY good friend, who I have known for 7 years, is having her "baby shower" on MAY 3, which is my birthday. She's always been good to remember my birthday before in the past, however, when I said "oh that’s my birthday' she acted as if she forgot that was my special day and kind of wondered if would impact whether I would be there or not "?". I did tell her I would be there, however its kind of weird I never got an invitation in the mail. When I asked her what time it started, she said either 3/4/5pm. Its a dif. kind of shower than the traditional norm. Its a Philippine shower, so a bunch of her family will be there. She said her mom sent out over 100 invitations last minute, but its more of a party/feast in their tradition. Well do I go to her shower? Or should I give her a gift a day early, and go out of town with my husband? We have no kids and so it would kind of be a romantic get away. I cant go to her party, then go out of town because the party of hers is an hour and half in the wrong direction of San Francisco, and we cant leave Saturday Night or Sunday.So….cancel my 25th birthday for a friend? And do something boring locally? It wouldn’t quite be the same, also if we went the following weekend. Its so much more fun and real to do things on the exact day of celebration. However, I don’t want to seem self centered. This sucks!!!!!!!!!! |

| Baby shower will happen only once and it's a very important day for your best friend. You've had 25 Birthdays and hopefully many more. Do you Birthday celebration the next weekend and maybe you could even invite her to come along. |

| Go to her shower. Without a doubt, that is what I would do... she only gets to do this once and you get to have a birthday every year. Also, there is no rule that says you have to celebrate your birthday on the actual day. Go out with your husband the following weekend. |

| I don't think you'd be self centered if you took her out the day before and spoiled the heck outta her. Take her to lunch give her gifts. Make it more about her though. Say something like, "It's traditional family time at a shower and since there will be so many family members there, I didn't want you to feel like you had to divide your attention...so I'm taking you out for lunch and giving you your present today!!" |

| I think you should go and celebrate your birthday in San Fransico. It is your day and go have fun!Give your friend a nice gift before hand and let her know you will visit her sometime to also celebrate the newly coming buddle of joy. |

| Go to San Fran. If she was such a good friend, then she would have had her shower scheduled on your birthday! |
