Here are some baby shower game ideas you might want to consider using for your sister in laws baby shower:Guess the Girth Check with the guest of honor in advance on this one. Some women may find this game a bit too personal, but if she's not shy, it can be a lot of fun. All you need is a ball or two of string. Ask guests to cut a length of string that they think will stretch around the future mom's belly. After everyone has had a turn, the mother-to-be measures and cuts a string that fits her belly. Compare her string to the pieces of string from each guest. The person who is closest wins. You'll be amazed at what people's estimates are. It's a great icebreaker and always good for some laughs. Baby Picture Match Game Before the shower, ask the guests for pictures of themselves as babies. Assemble the photos on a board and assign each a number. During the shower, pass out sheets of paper to the guests so they can match each baby to the appropriate grown-up. If the guests don't know each other well, name tags can help the process. The person who gets the most correct answers wins. Baby Quiz Ask the grandparents to write down what the parents were like as babies, and include vital statistics such as time of birth, height, weight, first tooth, first smile, age when toilet-trained, and early signs of their personality. Based on that information, make up a quiz about the future parents to hand out to guests. The person with the most correct answers wins a prize. Melt the Ice The day before the shower, freeze diaper pins, miniature pacifiers, tiny plastic babies, or similar items in ice cube trays. Give each guest an ice cube in a glass of water or other drink. The first person whose ice has melted so that the frozen item floats freely in the glass shouts, "My water broke!" and wins the game. Swaddle/Dress the Baby Get a life-size baby doll, receiving blanket, cloth diaper, diaper wrap, and onesie. Guests take turns trying to either dress or swaddle the baby. Time each guest — the one who does it fastest wins.Don't Say "Baby"Give every guest a clothespin to attach to her clothing and wear during the shower. Tell everyone not to say the word "baby" for the rest of the shower. If someone hears another guest say the forbidden word (and it's hard not to say it!), she gets to take the other guest's clothespin(s). The winner? Whoever has the most clothespins at the end of the shower. Guess the Baby Food Buy six or eight jars of baby food, all different flavors, and enough plastic spoons for all of the guests. Remove the labels from the jars and number them. At the shower, have everyone taste each jar and write down what kind of food they think it is, without letting fellow guests see their answers. Whoever gets the most right wins a prize. For a large shower, you may need to buy two jars of each kind and divide your guests into groups. The Diaper Bag Memory Game This is one of those memory games in which you add onto the list until it becomes too long to remember. The first player starts by saying the name of an item that would normally be found in a diaper bag. The second player lists that item plus one of their own. Each subsequent person must list everything already mentioned, in the proper order, and then add one more item. If you forget an item or list them out of order, you're "out." The last person still in the game is the winner.COTTON BALL GAME Get two large bowls and fill one up with cotton balls. The player is blind folded and tries with a heavy metal spoon or ladle to try and get as many cotton balls from one bowl to the other. It's actually very hard because all you feel is the weight of the spoon! The attendee who gets the most cotton balls into the other bowl wins. BABY STUFF SEARCH Buy some small baby items, pacifier, spoon, wipes, cotton balls, etc. Put them all in a bag and let each guest feel inside the bag. They have 30 seconds to identify as many items as possible and write them down. The winner is the one who gets the most right. THE PRICE IS RIGHT Take all of the items used in the baby stuff search (above) and ask each guest to guess the price. The person who gets closest on all of the items wins. Then give all of the baby products to the guest of honor. THE PREGNANCY WALK Tell each guest they will soon know how it feels to be a pregnant woman who needs a restroom...BADLY. Have each player, in turn, put a penny between her knees. She then tries to walk up to a large bottle with a relatively small neck and drop the penny into the bottle. Each guest gets one try. If no guest drops the penny in the bottle, then go another round. The person who successfully drops the penny into the bottle wins. If more than one person wins, give out multiple small prizes. This game is hilarious and should get a good laugh. It's a great ice breaker for guests who may not know each other. WHAT WILL BABY LOOK LIKE? Have each guest put a paper plate on their head and draw a picture of the baby to be. They can guess if it will be a boy or girl and draw accordingly. Needless to say, the pictures come out pretty funny. Then give them to the Mom-to-be for the baby book. REMEMBER WHEN This is a great activity for the guests as the mother-to-be opens her gifts. The object of the game is to have guests guess the age of the mommy-to-be in each photo. Before the shower, select around 12 photos of the mommy-to-be at various ages (newborn through age 1Cool. Number each photo and put it in a frame. Print out a sheet for each guest with the numbers and a clue as to how old the mommy-to-be is in each picture. The number on the frame should correlate with the number on the sheet. (i.e. picture 1 is #1 on the sheet.)The sheets for the guests will look similar to this (do not list the ages for the guests):1. Baby is just learning to sit up. (Age = 6 months) 2. The "terrible"___. (Age = 2 yrs) 3. Graduated high school. (Age = 18 years)4. Baby is learning to walk. (Age = 1 year) 5. Soon starting kindergarten (Age = 5 years)6. Baby is starting to crawl. (Age = 9 months) 7. Baby's first smile. (Age = 2 months) 8. Ready to drive. (Age = 16) 9. Rolling over. (Age = 4 months) 10. Walking and Talking (Age = 18 months) 11. The start of the "awkward" years (Age = 13 years) 12. Newbie (Age = 1 week) Give each guest a sheet and pass the photos around as the mommy-to-be opens her gifts. Have the guests guess the mommy-to-be's age in each photo and write it down on the sheet. When all the gifts had been opened, review each photo and the correct age. The guest with the most correct answers wins the game and a prize. Source: http://www.4showers.com/Store/BabyShowerGames.htmlIn regards to what kind of gifts you can give to the people who win the games, just go to your local cheap variety store and purchase 'feminine' gifts such as scented bath oils, fancy soaps, candles, little figurines, oil burners etc. They don't need to be expensive and related to the baby theme. As a bombonniere (baby shower favor) , I gave all the guests who came to my baby shower a toy baby bottle. You can also give your guests a funky feather pen like the ones in this link http://www.4showers.com/Store/ButterflyFeatherPens.html or even a little figurine of a baby or even an inexpensive baby picture frame which they can put a picture of the baby when she arrives. I also found this which would make a real cute baby shower favor http://babyshowercakes.com/B000OW556I/M/B000OW556I.htmThese are all great ideas which you can give to your guests to take home with them as a memento of the baby shower

1. Pin the diaper on the baby - using a large posterboard and a magic marker, draw a large picture of a baby. On a separate piece of paper, draw and cut out a picture of a diaper (or bottle, pacifier, rattle, etc) and stick double sided tape on the back. Blindfold your guests and have them try to stick the bottle on the baby's bottom. The person closest to the intended target wins.2. Pin the diaper on the baby boy - This is a gag game, so make sure mom-to-be is in a mood to be messed with before attempting. Set the game up the same as above, only this time ask mother-to-be (or daddy-to-be or anyone else you'd like to play a joke on) to go first. After putting on the blindfold, have someone sneak up on mom and spray her with a small water gun, to prepare her for the "surprises" we get when changing a baby boy's diaper!3. Bottle bowling - Set up 10 baby bottles in a triangle shape starting with 1 in the front (might work best in a hallway type area). Give guests a tennis ball or other small ball, and have them try to knock down all 10 "pins". Person with the best score wins.4. Bottle ring tossTake the nipple rings off several baby bottles. You can either set up some sort of container (like a baby bathtub) and have guests toss the rings into the container from a fair distance away, or make it horseshoe style by having them try to toss the rings around a bottle nipple (very difficult!)5. Stuff your shirtAward a prize to the person who can fit the most balloons under their shirt (don't blow the balloons up too full for this or you might not get many people fitting more than one). 6. Pregnant belly racesAfter having guests stuff their shirts, as mentioned above, have them race around the yard while not letting any balloons fall out. 7. A day in the life of mom - Also known as DistractionsGive guests a series of challenges to complete (diaper the baby, fold laundry...) and have guests shout out distractions (such as the phone is ringing, dinner is burning, the baby woke up). Time the guests to see who completes their challenges the quickest.8. Feed the babyHilarious game, especially at couples showers. Have one partner be "the baby" and the other partner be the parent. See who can feed an entire jar of baby food, using a small spoon, to their partner the fastest. For added laughs, make the "parent" hold the spoon in their mouth while playing and make them hold their hands behind their backs! You'll want to take pictures of this one! 9. Balloon pop/actionWrite different actions on several small pieces of paper (such as eat a jar of baby food, or drink soda from a baby bottle). Insert the papers inside a balloon, and then inflate the balloon and tie. Have guests pop the balloons by sitting on them then complete the challenges inside. If you would like to make teams, have one person pop the balloon and the other person perform the action. You may time the guests to determine a winner.10. Craft making - Have guests decorate t-shirts/onesies for the baby using puff paints and markers, or have them put together a scrapbook for baby.

My friends threw me a Shower by Snortees instead of usual games. It was great and I got the find out what people thought my child's personality would be like on an outfit. Here is the website...http://www.shopsnortees.com/babyshowerparty.htmlI liked it because I'm not the kind of person who gets into the old fashioned shower games and my friends all appreciated that, too. Have fun whatever you do Wink

Oh congrats to your sister in law a baby is so exciting. I have thrown a couple of showers myself and have a couple of ideas. First, for a nice neat gift everyone will be jealous of is a diaper cake. you just take ribbon tie it in a big circle and roll diapers and fill it. Then do a second circe a little smaller and fill it with rolled diapers again. Do one more circle even smaller and fill that with rolled diapers. If you stuff enough diapers in each ribbon ring they will be tight enough you can move them and stack them as a real three layer cake that you can decorate with anything. Stuff in little travel bottles of baby lotion or shampoo, hang pacifiers, the ideas are endless, and if you need one I have a picture of a pooh bear one made just a few months ago! for games i have seen guess the baby food just try to get people to guess what type of food they are eating, its harder than it sounds. if you have a crowd with a sense of humor a friend of mine came up with melting candy bars into diapers and having people smell it to guess what kind of candy it was. It was a great laugh to see everyone walking around sniffing diapers. Another is a fun game where you hang mini pacifiers on string or yarn as necklaces and every time the person wearing one says the word baby they get their necklace taken away and the person with the most necklaces at the end of the shower wins. As for games you can get anything girly if its an all women shower. you can get nice candles at dollar stores even or sometimes those small bottles of perfume or lotion from places like bath and body or victorias secret women love that kinda stuff. Have a happy shower!!!!

I threw a baby shower for my cousin's wife last year, and although my games were pretty easy, everyone loved them! 1. Make a wordsearch puzzle, using the top 10-20 (or however many you want) of boys and girls names for the previous year. First person to find them all, wins a prize. (You can make a puzzle on MSWord by making a table w/ 20-30 columns and approx 40 rows. Just enough room in each cell to put one letter. Type in the names first, then copy and paste these on another page, so that you have an answer key. Then, just fill in the remaining cells w/ random letters, and print!)2. Word Scramble. Think of different baby-related items (ie crib, bottle, etc), and scramble the word. You can have as many as you want. Tell them they have, say, two minutes (or however long you want to make it) to solve them. First person done, or the person w/ the most correct answers, wins a prize. 3. Baby-Libs. If you've ever played Mad-Libs, you'll know what I'm talking about. Make up a short (1-2 paragraphs) about the mom-to-be, and then take out certain words. (ie. The baby weighed ___(number)____ lbs and ____(number)____ oz. She has __(color)____ eyes.) I did this at the beginning of the party, as sort of an ice-breaker. After everyone filled their copy out, I had each one read theirs aloud, and the mom-to-be got to decide who had the best story. The winner then received a prize.4. Match the baby animal to it's mama. Simple. Just have the guests match them up; the one w/ the most correct wins! (ie, ewe, lamb; cat, kitten) Some of them were rather suprising!Prizes:I went and got various baby basics (about 5-10 dollars each) and placed them in a cute basket that went w/ the theme. This was what the mom-to-be got when a game was won. The guest who won got a little candy dish w/ various candies in it. (The dishes went perfectly w/ the mama's theme--pink bunnies.) Pretty inexpensive, but they went over well! Here's a site w/ more games; kinda wanted to do "Pass the dirty diaper", but decided against it.

My baby shower had some games that I'd NEVER played before and they had us all cracking up.1) Bubblegum babies: You chew up a couple pieces of bubblegum and then mold them into "baby" on a paper plate. Best baby wins!! (We were awarded various types of chocolate Yummmmmmmmmmm)2) Cottonballs and Vaseline: Two paper plates, cottonballs and a dab of vaseline. The object of the game is to move the cottonballs from one plate to another WITHOUT using your hands. You can only use your nose...with a dab of vaseline on the end to help the cottonballs "stick". No using your hands to get them OFF your nose, either!

at my shower my mom and sister had everyone take a small jar of playdoh and create a "baby" and give it a name. then my husband and i had to vote on the best and worst creations. it was a lot of fun and everyone really got into it and made some really funny looking "babies" with especially great names!they also put different food items in diapers and we all had to pass them around and try to guess correctly what the food item in each diaper was.for one other game my sister listed about 20 different animals and we all had to write down what their babies were called i.e. kangaroo baby is a joey, cat baby is a kitten. she had some really strange ones too, like crocodile or hippo. it was quite a learning experience!
