we are wanting to get her a personalized gift that requires a verse. I am not sure what to put on there. Does anyone have any suggestions. This will be collectively from our 2nd grade class. thanks for your help!you know, a verse on the plaque we are wanting to purchase. We are required to personalize it with a verse. Preferably a rhyming small short poem...such as....we are proud to honor you..bla bla blahhh

I'm not sure what you mean by a verse. My mother is a second grade teacher who is retiring in June after teaching for 38 years. Her favorite gifts are books created by the kids and a tote bag that the kids each drew a butterfly on and parents wrote a butterfly poem. Anything personal and created by the kids is the best! Her least favorite gifts are things like "Best Teacher" mugs and school bus earrings and other silly teacher JUNK.

Well a plaque is cute, and it could say something along the lines of Changing lives one year at a time for 30 years......or something similar, but I bet a more treasured gift would be a class book. Have each child do a page, leaving a small place for his or her school photo. Have them laminated and bound, and have the cover be a class photo taken out on the playground or under a tree, and have the title be something like, "Second Graders of Today...Graduating Class of 2018"

How about this:Now that you’re retiringWe can tell you how we feel; Our heartfelt admirationIs deeply felt and real. You’ve been a great role modelFor teachers and each kid;You showed us how to beIn everything you did. We’ll miss your fine example; We’ll miss the things you gave; Our pleasant memories of youWe’ll recall and carefully save.We wish for your retirementThe best of all your days;May you discover sweet fulfillmentIn new and rewarding ways.By Joanna Fuchs
