hey everyone. it realy seems like people never buy the stuff from someones baby registry and decides to buy what "they" want. did anyone get alot of things from their registry or just whatever people wanted to buy for your shower? money or gift cards are great, but does anyone think it isnt a good idea to buy what ever you want, because friends of mine were so frustrated cause no one gets what they realy need, and instead they get an overload of clothes and bathstuff and one of my friends even got a rediculous amount of baby blankets and comforters. lol. what did you get and what is your view on this? blessings. by the way im grateful for anything we get, i am just curious if we will get alot of stuff we dont need. LOL

Actually, and strangely enough, I got things from my registry at my shower. Of course, it was a family/close friend shower so maybe that's why. Like you say, we were grateful for anything we got. You can always exchange some things - especially if you get items that are sex specific and you have the opposite. Or if you got 5 of an item you may need to exchange. I think people are pretty understanding in those cases so long as you are polite and thankful towards them.

I got tons of stuff off my registry. But I did notice with my daughter many people bought me clothes...ugly ones. Just because they thought it was "cute". Also I got things that were similar to my registry but not the brand/color/size that I wanted. Just be sure to keep the tags on things..look for gift receipt and take things back. I took a lot of things back to Wal-Mart and Target. I know this sounds bad but I kept a few items to re-gift.

Yes everyone gets whatever they want. Its really aggrevating because I ended up with a million outfits, half of which she will never wear. And I had to go out and buy all the useful stuff. Its like HELLO i registred for a reason. I told as many people as I could to get the stuff from my registry. But I only got 4 things from my registry. Good luck!!

I did get a lot of stuff from my registry. I think people will tend to buy the larger items directly from your registry. I also got A LOT of wash cloths, blankets, onesies, bath stuff, etc.. Since it was my first child I was thinking, "why in hell do I need all this stuff?" I kept it all and left the tags on it. I promise you that you will need all of that stuff that you think is excess. Don't take tags off of any clothes though. You may decide you want a bigger size. Don't register for a lot of 0-3 month stuff. I didn't have to buy bath supplies for over a year. Now five years later I am having another baby and I will be so grateful to get anything because I got rid of all of my baby stuff. Just have fun with it. It was so cool to get home and unload the car and really see all the gifts for my new baby that hadn't even arrived yet. Congratulations!

I didn't even register because 99% of the time people get an invitation to a baby shower and automatically know what they are going to get. The people who gave my shower put a little note in the invitations saying that diapers and wipes were welcomed! Thankfully people actually read that little slip of paper and I didn't have to buy diapers or wipes until my daughter was 9 months Old!! |

I mostly got clothes because everyone thought the clothes they bought were so "adorable." Someone even got our first daughter a bunny suit that looked like the one from A Christmas Story... lol. Mind you, we live in Arizona. She was born in November, and the suit was for six months. How many babies do you see wearing fluffy, pink bunny suits in the heat of May? lol.. I was so disaoppointed because we didn't get what we needed. So my hubby just returned the clothes and exchanged them for items we needed. In the end, we just bought a bath set, and a swing, while his mother bought a crib. Since we ended up with 2 more girls, and have kept everything in excellent condition, we haven't needed to buy anything.. It would be nice though if people who come to your shower get you what you ask for, instead of bunny suits..lol.. Have a good one.
