I was curious how many of you have gotten gifts that weren't on your registry? Were you upset with that person for not choosing something/everything from it?This is more of a curiosity question.

i got a bunch of things that weren't on my registry... Not all people know how to use them or think to use them, basically you can tell where things have come from so return some of the things you won't use or got doubles of and put them toward things on your registry..... Don't be mad at them,

Most of the gifts I got were not on my list, but were returnable. We ended up with mismatched furniture (pine crib, beech change table - we registered for all cherry wood) , 2 strollers, 3 car seats and enough newborn sized diapers to last until my baby is potty trained. I ended up returning most of it and buying the items I picked out in the first place.

not everyone looks at the registry. some people purchase what they think you will need. be thankful that you were thought of.

well, i have not had my baby shower yet but i had that issue for my bridal shower. it is a pain. i wish people would use the registry. it just makes it more of a pain to retunr things. i know it was when i got married i can only imagine what it will be like when your pregnant.

Well, I just went through my second baby's baby shower Sunday. I never register. I didn't register with my first son either. I figure this. I invite people I love and who is near and dear to my heart. They can buy whatever they want. If I don't need it or have duplicates, I'll just exchange it. No biggie. I don't sweat the small stuff You always have to remember, it's the thought that counts...Lyn |

We recieved alot of things that were not on our registry... and no we were not upset or mad that they didn't stick to it... since we needed the things they gave us even though they were not on our registry.

I did not receive a lot of items from my registry when my showers came around. For the small things this is not a big deal. However if someone is buying you a big item (stroller, crib, furniture) I would think it would make sense if they checked with you first (since you are the parent and the one having to live with the big item for a while).I do know that a lot of people have a specific signature gift that they always give at baby showers. This is a gift that they have gotten a lot of great feedback in giving....a gift that they are proud to give. A gift that they, themselves, enjoyed tremendously when THEY were parents of babies.People should look at the registry as a guide to those who are stumped as to what to get the new baby. It is a wish list, of sorts. Not everyone will go to it.
