My Mom is wants to badly throw me a baby shower and has asked me to fly up to Minnesota from Louisiana to throw it. My entire family and most of my friends live near her. I have a few problems though. I do not want to fly in the last trimester, it will be uncomfortable and I also have a chance of being on bed rest the last trimester. If I missed my baby shower that would put me in a really difficult spot. Would it be okay for me to have a baby shower in my 6th-7th month? Also I don't want to ask people to ship gifts to me because of the cost and I can't get them back down here on the plane so what should I do? Should I ask the host (my mom) to help me with the shipping cost? Any Suggestions would be helpful. Thank You!

You could have your baby shower at anytime...theres no set guideline. As for gifts, why not suggest to your mom that gift cards be given in lieu of actual gifts that need to be shipped.

I agree with you about not wanting to fly in the last trimester, and actually most doctors will feel the same. I don't see anything wrong with you having a shower in your 6th month. And I think that your family and friends will completly understand! And if they don't then you can always tell thim that your doctor FORBIDS you to travel during that time! lolGood luck to you with your new addition Smile

Ask your mother to have your baby shower after the baby is born...It would be a Meet the baby shower. Then you will be safe to travel, they can get you gifts and such and they will get to meet the baby.

People will totally understand if you have your baby shower at the 6/7 month mark if you have to fly to the shower. I had to travel a couple states back home for the baby shower with my family since they all live out of state. I packed super light, packed a small suitcase inside a big one. Coming home I carried my clothes as a carry on and checked 2 bags of gifts.Your mom can let people know as they RSVP that small items and/or gift cards are prefered. Register for small size objects when you register for that shower.Ideas: Swaddling blankets, recieving blankets, baby spoons, toys, diaper bag, changing pads, bed linens, clothes, etc.

Hello loved number ones answer that would be great and then tell them you can take pictures of what you buy and send the pictures back to them and tell them they are more than welcome to send the gifts but they would have to be mailed cause you can not take all of them on the plane i have had alot of family send in presents and gifts for my little girl and also maybe your mom can have a shower without you and bring the gifts to you maybe she could drive down that would also work

Yes, have it around your sixth or seventh month. That way you can travel without having to worry that much. Getting the presents home.. how about this:Have everyone go to the stores and instead of buying a gift buy a gift card for the amount of money they were willing to spend and on the card write what the money is for. From: Nice LadyTo: Pregnant LadyFor: Three packs of HuggiesThat way there is no confusion and you get to buy it yourself with all the gifted money which would be more fun that imaginable to me. You can also pick out what you want and what you don't want, and you have the option to wait until you find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. It simplifies everything, you can put the cards in your purse on the plane so you don't loose them and there are no shipping costs besides.. you.I wish you the best of luck!
