| A relative came home from vacation with a bag full of gifts for my husband, my daughter, and me. It was a nice gesture, except she left on all of the tags and left the receipt in the bag. I felt it was obnoxious. We didn't need to receive that many gifts from her vacation- it felt like a mini-Christmas. What are your views on leaving the tags on and the receipt in the bag for the gift receiver to find?She usually leaves the tags on. But for Easter and major holidays she takes off the price part of the tag.Doesn't make sense to me! |

| I think it is okay, if you could take them back. BUT seeings how it was vacation you probably couldn't take it back if something was wrong with it. Most places have gift receipts for this purpose though. I think this relative just wanted you to know how much she spent. Personally I leave the tag on but cut the price off. This way the store will still take it back if need be for some reason or another. She was just making a point |

| Maybe left by accident in all the vacation scurry. Maybe so you can return them. Maybe to let you guys know you're soooo worth thinkin' about while on vacation. Accept them graciously . |

| Yes, it is very bad etiquette. I would never leave tags on such items. I find that very tacky and classless. A gift receipt is acceptable. |

| I was always taught to take them off. You're not supposed to let a person know how much you spent on them. Perhaps she just forgot though? I mean just coming home from vacation, maybe her mind wasn't in our world.... is this a typical habit of hers, or was this the first time? |

| Usually what I do when I give gifts, like clothing, that I feel may be not the perfect style or color, I will snip off the piece with the price, but leave the tag with the bar-code on the item- and if it's available, I will include a gift receipt.I do think it is inappropriate to leave on the tags with the price showing- and the receipt is even worse!My mother-in-law does this much of the time, and it drives me nuts! I know where you are coming from!Unfortunately, you can't really say anything without it coming out the wrong way. Just bite your lip, and know you are a better etiquette abiding person for the practices you demonstrate. Not everyone is perfect. |

| Yes, it's tacky.If it weren't for the vacation part, I'd think she was leaving the stuff you needed to return them.I wouldn't call it obnoxious, just tacky.Um, I'm not sure why you're objecting so strongly to the number of gifts. What's wrong with a mini-Christmas? Or are you just saying you didn't like any of them? |
