It's Horus' birthday! He was born in a manger to a virgin goddess, thousands of years before the Jesus story.

I give and accept Christmas gifts, because it's a family tradition. U.S. Congress ruled Christmas is secular therefore could be observed as a federal holiday. Do you want to have your cake and eat it too?

What is, is...whether someone who cares about YOU gets you a present or not. And, I love cake, BTW. That must be why I'm an atheist.

In this nation (America) Christmas is a secular holiday. It is recognised by the Federal Government on a secular front: Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer are not religious or spiritual charachters. Christmas trees are pagan in nature.I certainly accept gifts at this time. I also give them, as giving is a wonderful and beautiful way of expressing our love and compassion to others. Giving and receiving gifts does not in any way violate or compromise any of my beliefs. I think giving (either gifts or time or commitment) is one of the most beautiful and compassionate things about human nature we have, and should not be discouraged.Do I say God is a lie? Yes. But if its something you believe it, its yours to believe. No skin off my nose. People beleive whatever works for them. If believing in a god works for you, more power to ya. My son believes in santa. More power to him. He will change his mind at some point as he grows. Time enough for reality later. right now he is a child, and believes in childish things.

I don't see Christmas as a religious celebration. It was stolen from the pagans anyway. A crapload of cultures had a holiday or special ceremony around our Christmastime due to the winter solstice.Ever since my Catholic parents kicked me out for being gay, I haven't really had presents. Part-time jobs don't really cover rent, bills, groceries, etc. Usually my girlfriend and I just have a nice dinner at home or at a friend's house. Sometimes I'll get cute little presents from my friends, but I feel bad because I can't afford to get them anything in return.I think of Christmas as a time to be take a nice holiday from school to hang out with your loved ones. Plus I like those rainbow Christmas lights. I go nuts with those. My balcony and windows practically light up the whole street at Christmas.

Athiest just call themselfs athiests for attention because if they live in America everything around us is based on Jesus Christ and God the Father so if someone is a true athiest they would have to move to afganistan and hide in a mountain and live neither on food or water but their own thoughts which amount to nothing! God bless all who live the truth.

I accept a gift, and therefore I believe in God?Christmas is one of the only times when I actually can have my cake and eat it too!Do you only give gifts because of God, or do you give gifts because you love the person who is receiving the gift?I may be an atheist, but I do have people who love me!

So what, Pagan or Christian. Both have a belief in Spirit and God/God.An atheist is having their cake and eating it to if they celebrate the Christmas since they do not believe living things have a Spririt or in God. Dictionary.com - An atheist is one who denies the existence of a deity or of divine beings. It seems like the "atheists" on here are not really true atheist, they just hate Christians, they seem to be pretty ok with Pagans, Wiccans, Bhuddists and every other religion.

accepting a gift doesnt mean that much. dont make a big deal about it. hey, take it! just because of our 'beliefs' are a certain way doesnt mean u have to be rude or unsocial by not accepting a gift which is only a gesture of frienship, care, love, or just good wishes, good luck, and good will!!

I don't have any 'beliefs' and since it is a national holiday, why shouldn't I celebrate it?

i love questions like this as it brings people like taglo and leo out of the woodwork.btw, (to taglo) an atheist does not hate Christians, they just hate people who are dumb, opinionated and obnoxious.............. mostly Muslims and Christians with my w.a.s.p background, and my encyclopedic knowledge of the bible, i find it easier to argue knowledgeably with Christians than I would with (say, for example) Hindus or Zoroastrians.
