Buy him a telephone card and remind him to call you every now and then when he's traveling and away from home. I can't imagine a loving dad who doesn't want to know that his kid(s) want him to call them and talk to them. Trust me on this one. I'm a dad, and I've been a son. My dad died of old age back in '05. God Bless you.

I can't really think of any cool travel gadgets, but I'm sure your dad has a cell phone and doesn't need a phone card right? I like this sitehttp://www.gifts.com/it's helped me a few times.

How about a monogrammed dopp kit? Or a tie case that keeps his ties from getting wrinkled? Or something fun that you 2 can do together, like hot air balloon ride or tickets to a game? Check out http://www.mensbestgifts.com - they have some unique ideas.

I’ll have to suggest www.creanta.comThey turn any image, including your favorite photograph into a hand made painting. What I liked of them is that they are reeeeaally good at capturing the physical likeness. Not to mention very, very affordable. They also combine multiple photos into a single painting. I was very impressed with the results. They’re the nicest people…I highly recommend them.Best wishes!!

Identify some of his true passions, get them photographed and send the photos to http://www.paintyourlife.com. The guys there can make very unique and classical-looking portraits or paintings out of simple photos! It costs less than you might think. They also make wonderful photo prints on canvas in various designs. Check it out at http://www.photo-print-on-canvas.com

If he travels a lot to Europe, if you buy a compact universal adapter plug kit that's good for multiple countries, that's always helpful. If he has an IPOD, you can always make him a custom playlist of his favorite tunes OR tunes you think he should get to know.If he travels a lot by car, GPS is always a treat for a techie person. You could also make a gift basket of treats. Many airlines skimp on food these days so you could wrap his favorite salty and sweet snack foods, include a custom note with each one and encourage him to choose from his travel basket of treats before going on each trip.Omaha Steaks is always good for an assortment of meat packages with bonus gift items like Lobster Tail and Steak. If your father appreciates architecture, here's a book about 100 urban plans in Paris, Barcelona, Rome, etc.http://toscale.blogspot.com/Other Gift Ideashttp://www.associatedcontent.com/article/690015/for_the_dad_that_has_everything_top.html
