hmm hope you are prepared to lay out some bucks...if you are NOT in America a Columbian is a good answer always.. but IMHO not worth 20-50 bucks each...any Honduran is usually a pretty good smoke.. macanudo's are my personal favorite...what you are looking for is a leaf wrapper and leaf inside not filler for a GOOD cigar...for a nice one.. filler inside and a leaf wrapperfor a cheap one.. paper wrapper and filler.

For one special cigar you cant go wrong with Aurturo FuenteI like the Flor Fina 8-5-8 best but they have several great cigars.you could also look for mail order places like thompson and get a sampler box.

Hit a good smoke shop and ask them, make sure you stick to a price range and tell them whether he's likely to smoke it now or save it. If he doesn't have anywhere to store it, see if you can get him a gift cert or something, otherwise it'll dry out.

With cigars price usually dictates quality. There are several different types of cigars being size both length and thickness. Also color has a lot to do with taste. Figure how much you want to spend on it and have your mom go to a cigar store and just pick one out by price.

Anything from the Aruro Feunte Family is good. This will include Opus X, Diamond Crown, The Hemmingway Line, The Don Carlos line, Ashton etc. All the smokes are long filler and top quality. Some other great smokes are Padron's, La Flor domincana, Tatuaje, La Gloria Cubana, Greycliff or AVO. If you are looking for something less expensive but still decent quality you can't go wrong with Carlos Torano. Their Silver line isn't bad. If your Dad doesn't have a humidor, spend 5 bucks extra and get one of the humidifing bags. It will keep the cigars fresh for months.

My favorite question; what to get as a cigar for a gift.Right now, I like the Comacho Triple Maduro. It's a beautiful cigar, has some body, but not as full as some people claim and has a wonderful presentation. If they like a mild cigar, the mildest popular brand is a Macanudo, but they lack flavor.http://www.nashvillecigarclub.com
