|
|
| So I'm going to be visiting my friends in up state New York and one of my friends has offered to let me stay on their couch for a while. My question is should I buy them a gift to kind of say thanks for letting me stay? A nice bottle of wine perhapses? Or should I just offer to help around the house and possibly cook a few meals? |

| Actually both would not be too much - if you can afford it, buy them a decent bottle of vino, and maybe make breakfast at the weekend, or cook dinner when they're coming home from work and don't want to cook or go out.Being thoughtful is the BEST house guest gift! |

| How about all of the above? A nice thank you gift and some services around the place so they know you don't think of them as a free hotel. You have a kind heart. |

| Look at their house and if they like plants, get a plant like a philodendron. If they are wine enthusiasts a good wine is great. Be tidy, but don't offer to clean their house too much unless they ask for you specifically for help. Make sure it is something in mind for the people of the house as a whole. The alcohol question is a tough one because I almost bought a bottle of scotch and I found out at the last minute that the wife was trying to get her husband to quit drinking. I found out because I asked what kind of scotch they enjoyed. She said not to get that, but loved the plant and me just being a good considerate guest. |

| bring some tasty groceries or somethingi have a friend from school who lives in cincinatti, and over spring break she invited me to stay with her friends for the week with her their apartment. they had a lot of parties and so they ran through TP really fast. so i went to the store and bought mini bagels, cream cheese, toilet paper, ice-pops, and chocolate. and everyone was really excited.it just so happened that i bought the cheapest generic toilet paper and it was very soft and fluffly like name brand paper so they were really excited about that too.oh and i helped clean up after the parties with him. don't be a disgruntled guest. if something big needs done they shouldn't have to ask and you don't even need to offer just pitch in. |

| It would be nice to do both...If you are staying awhile then I do feel you should help around the house...and giving a bottle of wine is just a nice way of saying thanks...maybe you and your friend could share it... |

Do all the stuff you mentioned. Clean, bring some wine, and cook. |
