|
|
What is an appropriate amount to give as a gift for my cousin's son? He graduated 8th grade. I haven't seen them in a handful of years. I'd like to give a decent amount for a gift. Is $25 okay? Or should I give more? It's not a matter of what I can and can't afford. I'd like to give a nice gift but don't know what that would be considering we are family BUT we don't get together or talk very often.

I am with you, for the 8th grade, I think $25 is more than enough.

I was going to suggest $20 so $25 is a very nice gift.

You should give him more than $25 or talk to his parents and find out what he likes.

Personally I don't give gifts for 8th grade grads, just a pat on the back and good luck in high school. But I would say $20.

is money always the perfect gift?????????? no. i thik you should buy him something he can use in high school. graphing calculator. electronic thesaurus. something he will apprecieate not now, but when he/she finds out how hare high school life will be without it. a world atlas on cd-rom. but if money will leave you with no headache. $50 should be just fine. $100 is usually given for straight a's and high honor awards. dont be a cheapie.

My best friends' youngest daughter graduated from 8th grade a few weeks ago. I gave her $20. She also had a birthday in April and was Confirmed in May. So, she made out o.k. this year. I thought $20 was fine and so did she (and her parents, too).

$20-$25 is fine to give if there is an event you will be attending..otherwise it's really not necessary if you are not close.
