| My parent's anniversary is coming up soon. My siblings and I are 15, 13, and 11, so no more than $200. Creative ideas that don't cost much but mean a lot. I think it'll be their 17th, but I'm not exactly sure. And we are traveling on that day, if that affects anything. Thanks in advanced! |

| In my experience, parents are generally more sentimental than materialistic when it comes to gifts from their kids. The things my parents held on to were things that we made and were a little embarrassed about later. If you wanted to do something kind of simple and inexpensive, you could create something out of family pictures and pictures from their wedding/young love days: A collage, a series of frames, a poems surrounded by pictures...stores with photo-development often have things you can have made like t-shirts or mugs or even blankets and mousepads. You could also plan a dinner or brunch for the night before and cook for them and act as their "servers" and then do all the dishes etc... You might even consider inviting some grandparents if there are any nearby.Gifts-wise, you could get them a bunch of flowers in a nice vase, buy them a gift-certificate for a night in a nice hotel or for a restaurant/movie theatre. Keep in mind that since this seems to be anniversary #17, not a major celebrated milestone (but still fun to recognize), you may not need to make too big of a deal out of it. Just letting your parents know that you appreciate their love for each other and congratulating them on a job well done may be exactly what they're looking for.Good luck. |
