Why does society put an unfair expectation on men to wine and dine women and buy them things? Can't it be equal or even vice versa? Have any women dine and dined their men and bough them stuff?I'm asking because I have met an amazing man recently. He makes less money than me. I want to wine take him out to nice places and shower him with gifts? Do you think this would be ok? I'd like to know from other women who have done it.I'm not a man. I'm a woman asking If I can treat a guy out and treat him this nicely.

Well, I think it's sorta expected that the man buy things. Just like the man of the family is expected to provide for the family.

its called chivalry homie, and even though its basically dead now... its only fair. And yes, women do buy men gifts and treat them to dinner occasionally but it shouldn't be expected of her.

If you take him out then he may feel emasculated and as though you are showing that you are a better "provider" than he is. Ask him and he will deny it, but he will probably feel that way. Let him take you out to places that he can afford, like the movies and Taco Bell then, but let HIM be the man. I am a feminist and have tried it the other way and have learned my lesson - sadly, the men have to be the "men" and the women have to be the "women" but it works that way for a reason. If you ever get married, then you can go out to nicer places as a couple. PS - tell him you really enjoy the nachos at Taco Bell!
