Two coffins and a bow and arrow, whoever said romance and committment was dead. You could find an antique bowl with gold trim on it if you look around at reasonable antique places or can pick out antiques yourself. Or just buy a 40 dollar chunk of gold if you insist on being cheap.

Scan in photos of the couple over the past 50 years and load them onto one of those new digital picture frames that show a slideshow of all the pictures. These probably start at around $50 though. Maybe ebay would have a deal on one.

Wow. Congratulations on the big 5-0! I would get something that will always remind him of the special day. Something that makes him remember his 50th anniversary every time he looks at it. Homemade gifts are always special, if you like knitting, or sewing or something. Maybe a slideshow put together of all your pictures from the day you were married, to all of your fun times in between. That wouldn't cost to much, you can buy the software at a store like staples, or office max.I hope that helps you. Congratulations once again.

Get them a really pretty gold frame... and maybe if you have a picture of them, you can already have it in there... =)

What about a flameless candle? They are probably an older couple & wouldn't worry about safety issues with a flameless candle.I found this heart shaped one on QVC. Kind of romance & its in your budget with shipping.http://www.qvc.com/qsearch/search.aspx?Nu=000_product_nbr&Ne=300000&N=309219&Ntx=mode%2bmatchallpartial+rel+maxfield%2cglom%2cnumfields%2cnterms%2cstatic(p.best_seller_qty,descending)&Nr=AND(FILTER(IQVC)%2cOR(ats_code%3aY%2cats_code%3aW)%2cOR(Partner+ID%3aQVC)%2cOR(channel%3aIQ))&Ntk=MainInterface&Ntt=flameless+candles+AND+095_comb_class_codes%3a0101&.tpl.ensearch&ERU1=flameless+candle

Have you considered a set of wine glasses with gold trim (for $15. each - see my sources below) and a bottle of wine or champagne. Find out what kind of wine they like. Trader Joe's (a specialty gourmet market) has a $ 2. wine called Charles Shaw, which competed against the best grape in the world & beat it 2 years ago. It was showcased on Good Morning America. Otherwise, go to a reputable wine store and have the manager pick out a good wine. Or find a 50 year old bottle of wine or champagne. Wrap it gold wrapping paper with a gold tag and forego the wine glasses. People love gifts that commemorate them both...Good luck!
