|
|
| My husband's mother recently got remarried, she's in her 60's They were married in a private ceremony out of state (we weren't there) - what would be an appropriate gift? Would just a card suffice? We can't give a gift certificate - she HATES gift certificates, thinks they show no effort. (I love to receive them!). Any suggestions are appreciated. |

| How about a gift basket from Harry & David?http://www.harryanddavid.com/gifts/store/category-display____gift-baskets_customer-favorite-gift-baskets__Or maybe a Harry & David Fruit of the Month Club?Or send sheets, towels, or glasses. They always wear out eventually or break and need to be replaced. Everyone loves Egyptian cotton sheets with a high thread count . . . even mothers-in-law.Or get them tickets to a concert, play, or sporting event you know they would enjoy. |

| People who are "established" - older people with kids out of the house - don't need more "things." They will like gifts that give them enjoyment, but don't have to keep forever. I like to give gifts that are temporary - so that they don't have to feel like they need to put it on display when I visit or wear it in a picture so that I know they "like" it. SO, try giving something they'll USE even if its just one time, like a great bottle of wine. If you have some money to splurge with, you can do flower or wine subscriptions (they send a new flower arrangement or wine every month). Soaps and candles (stick to great brands like Crabtree&Evelyn and Yankee Candle) are a lower priced option. Good luck! |

| you can get them something engraved from Things Remembered. their website has a variety of gifts for special occasions.marriage/love is truly a gift from God and it's nice to hear of persons even in their 60s still finding this happiness. |

| I love the idea of tickets to something they can do together. As established (probably not needing stuff), think about a donation to their favorite charity. Lots of couples do that and I think it's sweet. |
