It is customary to give a bottle of wine if you are going to a dinner party, and it shows you have taste, class, and are somewhat educated.

If you're invited to a dinner - i advise you to bring something else - otherwise not be offended if the host keeps the bottle and puts it in the cellar - mainly if he already bought THE wine he decided to go with Madam's courses - Some people, not among the least educated, will feel your present as both nice and/but disturbing their meal-strategy....Go for spirits : good whisky, vodka, cognac, armagnac - As for flowers - find a seller who accepts to deliver the flower with your card, in the morning - high classmake your choices - just old tips from Europe

trust me a good bottle of wine will do the trick. although it depends on whether or not whoever your buying it for will appreciate it. u have to be selective. maybe ask prior to the event what you shall be eating and then choose the wine from their. personally a good white burgundy does the trick, failing that a chilean carmenere is fantastic!!!hope it helps

Personally I think if you are taking it to a dinner party it shows that you have a little class, especially if it's not a $3.00 bottle of wine. I also think that it shows the host that you thought ahead and respect the trouble that they are going through to host the dinner. I also include a custom, hand-made wooden wine bottle stopper because then they have something extra to use over and over when the wine is gone and the party is over. See the link below.Hope this helps!
