We are three bridesmaids (in our 20s) who are looking for a wedding gift for our childhood friend. She is very wealthy and already owns her own home. We're looking for a unique gift without just giving them a check. They've already paid for everything on the honeymoon and they are not very artsy (so theater is out of the question)...please we need some good ideas...we're running out of time!!

This won't help you, but I just had to say it. I attended the wedding of a filthy rich co-worker. I liked both him and his bride, but had little money myself. Based on a joke that I won't be sharing here, I bought him a cap with fabric peas and butter on top and her's had armadillo ears. I understand it caused quite a sensation with the family when they opened the gifts after returning from their honeymoon. He wore the cap into work to show it off AND they even wore them during their 20 year anniversary party. The point here is that you've known this gal all her life and you can get her something very personal to share with her new hubby that nobody else could possibly understand.

My friend was in the same situation and she had pictures of the bride and groom, from the time they first meet until they got engaged, matted and put in a frame. They loved they idea and it was there fav gift.

what about something from your childhood - like a photo of fun day out etc or a book of memories - it'd be compltly personal and unique.

I agree with "jahvar's mama." If this is a childhood friend, you girls should have lots of great pictures of you all through the years. Do something fun with them. Make a collage, for instance, and have it professionally matted and framed. Or, if they're philanthropic, make a donation on their behalf to their favorite charity. Basically, in this instance, it truly is the thought that counts. The more thought and effort you put into a gift that is truly meaningful, the more the bride will truly appreciate it. Smile

The first 3 answerers have some good ideas, if they have everything, you do have to get creative. Gift cards to their fav restaurant, you could even plan an eve for them, movie gift card, ice cream gift card, restaurant gift card, even gas card. Get a keepsake that will go with their household. Some lovely candlesticks, a piece of crystal, something that will remind them of you everytime they see it. Get something silly. A icecream maker and recipes, a snowcone maker. There is a margarita maker out there now. A tea maker with a selection of teas. Be sure and include whatever it takes to make whatever it is, as possible. and pick something they love. Kits are cool right now, a wine and cheese kit[a bottle of good stuff and a cheese cutter], a margarita kit[you could really go nuts with that one, Margaritaville t-shirts, flipflops, a line of tropical lights, silly napkins, the glassware, the booze and the mixer]. Pick a country, buy a pan, and fill it with things needed to cook it, and a cookbook. A wok, a cook book, the gizmo to stir with, some oils and flavorings would appeal to someone with basic cooking skills. Do Italian, Chinese, Mexican. Someone suggested a picnic basket, filled with the appropropriate picnic items. Some of those come with the utensils and plates and glasses. Add a tablecloth, a bottle of wine, a nice steady candle[and matches].A evening at home kit: hot chocolate, a tin of cookies, a snuggly acrilic blanket, a gift card for Blockbuster, even some popcorn. If they have a real woodburning fireplace, think of something there. Some of those pinecones that have colors, a box of long matches. If they don't find one of those videotapes that have a movie of a fireplace. Even put in a cd of romantic music, their idea of that.A selection of gormet coffees.

I think you should give the wedding couple something memorable from the heart. Custom handmade figurine is a unique gift for everyone!I would highly recommend you visit http://aweddinggiftidea.comTheir professional artists will make a wonderful figurine of them. I sent them my favorite pictures of my sister and they made incredible "mini-me". That was awesome! My sister was very, very touched and pleased when I gave it to her as wedding gift.
