|
|
So my fiance and I are having a dilemma.. My aunt is playing the organ for the ceremony at the church... Do we get her a gift? (my brother and his wife did about a year ago) .. And then if we get her a gift my other aunt is doing all my flowers.. so do we get her one too? And what about my other aunt that helps her with the flowers? and then what about all my cousins that help decorate and do other misc. things... do we get them one? Where does this stop? Who should get a gift and who shouldn't?I am also expressing thanks (and putting specific names of the people that are doing BIG things like the organ & 2 I know are mainly doing the flowers) on the back side of the program...

If the gifts are getting too costly . . . Then write heartfelt thank-you notes to all the family members helping you. Thank-you notes cost you very little.I am sure all your aunts and cousins would be content with loving notes of thanks.Attendants should receive gifts. Flower girls and ring bearers should receive gifts. Officiants get money.Sometimes guest book attendants . . . or those handing out bubbles or programs . . . . receive smaller gifts.

I agree. Gifts for your attendants and parents. Thank you cards for everyone else. Maybe for the people that did extra special things you get them special thank you cards that are different than just the plain blank thank you cards and write something heartfelt inside of that.

We had so many people help out with our wedding...I think more than a note, a spoken earnest thank-you goes a bit farther. You could call them up after the wedding to express your thanks or even at the wedding. They know how thankful you are, you don't need to buy it. If you give one person that helps a gift then you give one to everyone so no one feels left out which is why I don't think that method is appropriate. They are helping you because they love you and want the time to be happy and perfect for you.

I would get anyone a gift who is playing a part in the wedding, so yes I would get them all a gift...but something small...a nice thank you card as mentioned and maybe a bottle of wine, small album, or even a box of Godiva chocolates

Anyone who has helped alot and put in alot of hours deserves a personal thank you at the very least. Here's an idea: Print thank you cards yourself, get nice brooches from ebay stores and attach them to the cards and tie with a ribbon. (i bought some from ebay... 6 or 7 of them came to $40 or so and they threw in little free brooches too! Just order early as they come from china usually and tell them it's a wedding and have them be careful with packaging etc)They'll be pretty, inexpensive and very personal :)All the best.

I'd get the organ player a gift because she is taking part in your wedding. As far as flower-makers and decorators, I wouldn't get them a gift, but be sure to send them a nice thank you note. I got my organist the 'Thank You' Willow Tree Angel. She loved it, and it was pretty low cost (around $10).

well, I would do something nice for the aunts doing the flowers (I do wedding flowers on the side, its a LOT of work! They will be putting a lot more time into making the wedding happen than most anyone else) but beyond that I would stop. Just give them theirs in private....maybe the organ aunt could get something, but seriously, don't go much further than that! I got sucked into the getting a gift for everyone who sang, passed out a program, cut a cake, anything- and it got OUT of HAND! Then you run into having to spend equal amounts on all these people and its jsut more headache than its worth....write them a nice thank you note, maybe have corsages for the people who helped out a lot so they get a little more recognition for their work that day, but beyond that, save the hassel! Good luck to you!
